Murderville season 1, episode 5 recap
In the fifth episode of Murderville, Sharon Stone joins the cast as Terry’s new partner! His biggest advice to Sharon is to not fall in love with him. Yet there isn’t much time for her to do so as there’s another murder!
This time the murder victim was a surgeon at City General Hospital. And as Amber puts it, the victim (Sebastian Pierce) is the best-looking corpse she has seen. Even so, his good looks couldn’t save him from having his heart surgically removed and stomped on by a skilled surgeon.
Terry and Sharon head over to the first suspect, Dr. Jocelyn Alexander. She is Sebastian’s boss, and she details how he made her life miserable. One such story was how doctors and nurses would constantly lose their phones inside as patients as they were constantly trying to “sext” Sebastian. Dr. Jocelyn Alexander goes on to add that the killer could be a spurned lover or even a jilted husband.
This brings Murderville to the second suspect, Dr. Madison Chen. Terry and Sharon visit Madison on her only hour off, where she does Zumba. Madison reveals that Sebastian ripped her heart out and stomped on it and that “the past is the past; he got what was coming”. And that’s something Madison lives by as she is now engaged.
The third suspect, anesthesiologist Dr. Will Gonzalez, has a motive as his wife slept with Sebastian. Once Terry and Sharon are undercover as Dr. Brett Retterson & Dr. Eva Brownfinger, they learn that due to his wife’s affair Will was able to buy a boat and get a “hall-pass”.
The ending
And now comes the time for Sharon to decide who the killer is! She picks Madison. Sharon argues that Madison moved on far too quickly, had the ability to sew him up, as she is a cardiothoracic surgeon, and Madison even used the phrase “ripped my heart out and stomped on it”. Which is what exactly happened to Sebastian. Plus, Sharon states that Jocelyn had no motive, as instead of murdering him, she could just fire Sebastian, whilst, Will gained many benefits from his wife’s affair with Jocelyn.
It’s a solid theory, but is it right? No! The killer is Dr. Will Gonzalez! As he has training as a surgeon, is an avid coffee drink, and is a fan of classical music, he has traits that only the killer could have! Rhonda explains that it could not be Madison, as she doesn’t drink coffee, and as Jocelyn is not a surgeon, there is no way that she could have killed Sebastian.
In the closing moments of the fifth episode of Murderville, Will tries to flee from the police whilst Sharon gets fired (much to her relief). When Terry returns to the office, Lori’s cobwebbed phones; “I have something very important to tell you. It’s about Lori”.
