I know people argue that this is a love-it-or-hate-it melodrama, but I’m not sure this is how the series started. Now it’s bonkers, and I’m not sure what to feel about it. The cast changes are throwing me off too.

Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) season 3, episode 2 recap

Episode 2 opens up showing Ji-a possessed by her grandfather, heading to her grandmother’s house. Meanwhile, A-mi reveals to Dong-mi that her father has passed away as their civil war continues. After leaving the apartment, A-mi catches Ji-a in the stairwell, and she can see she is acting odd, so follows her. Yu-sin lets Ji-a into the apartment, and what follows is a possessed Ji-a getting angry and physical with Dong-mi. The spirit of her grandfather blames Dong-mi for his death, and then Ji-a faints. Yes, this is the same series.

Anyway, moving on to the serious moment in the story, Song Won admires her newborn baby with so much love in her eyes. But then, tragedy strikes — Song Won struggles to breathe, and she dies from childbirth. Sa-hyeon and his family are devastated and in shock. At first, Sa-hyeon is in absolute denial and believes she’s still warm and asks the doctor to do CPR. Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) reminds viewers of the dangers of childbirth for women.

Back to the possession story, A-mi tells Pi-young how weird Ji-a was acting and believes her grandfather possessed her. Dong-mi plays the victim card again. Privately, A-mi tells Pi-young that they should prove that Dong-mi killed her husband after Ji-a’s possessed moment.

Si-eun visits Park Hae-ryun, who is suffering from a health condition. When she visits his apartment, she can see the sad life he is now living after being dumped by Ga-bin. He needs an acupuncturist as he thinks he has peripheral facial palsy. So they go to the doctors, and Si-eun believes the stress of getting dumped has caused his condition. Her friends think she shouldn’t look after him. Meanwhile, Ga-bin learns from her partner of Park Hae-ryun’s health condition.

The ending

As the episode ends, a couple of things happen…

Seo Ban and Si-eun enjoy dinner. Si-eun raises how she doesn’t remember when they first met, but Seo Ban remembers her from when they were younger at an art academy. They have a wonderful date. There’s hope for Si-eun.

The episode ends with Hye-ryung learning that Sa-hyeon has lost a family member. She rings him, and Sa-hyeon debates on whether to answer the phone.

Episode 2 brings some serious topics to the fray, but it’s also absolutely bonkers.
