Welcome to another week of Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce). Of course, it’s tough to predict anything at this stage. Let’s recap episode 5.
Love (ft. Marriage and Divorce) season 3, episode 5 recap
Episode 5 opens up with Dong-mi’s husband’s spirit possessing Seo Ban and making a romantic advance on Dong-mi at the swimming pool. He invites Dong-mi back for some wine but soon remembers that his wife killed him, so he uses Seo Ban’s body to attack her. A shaken Dong-mi flees and leaves the city. She sensed it was her husband that attacked her. Meanwhile, Hye-ryung confronts Si-eun about her relationship with Seo Ban, and she claims she feels humiliated. She wanted more transparency. Si-eun admits she finds her encounters with Seo Ban interesting. Hye-ryung is out of order here — she cannot claim that she had a romantic stake with Seo Ban. He was never truly interested.
Anyway, later on, Pi-young, Hye-ryung, and Si-eun arrange a send-off for Seo Ban, who is leaving their workplace. Hye-ryung struggles to keep it together as the night wears on, and she starts thinking about Sa-hyeon. After the night ends, Seo Ban takes Si-eun to a church, and he prepares for her rejection, but he promises her that his feelings will never change about her. But, there’s a good story to be had here — Si-eun reciprocates.
Another pivotal moment in episode 5; Dong-ma and Ga-bin go to a theme park together to blow off some steam, but afterward, Dong-ma admits to her that he loves her, but not strongly enough. Ga-bin is distraught, but Dong-ma admits his desires got the better of him, but one day, he believes she will thank him for this break-up. A very cold moment from Dong-ma, leaving Ga-bin heartbroken. After being dumped, Ga-bin ponders over Hae-ryun — this feels typical of this series. All the characters seem shallow and constantly changing their minds.
A drunk Hye-ryung meets Sa-hyeon’s newborn baby, and she promises the family that she will often visit and bring formula milk and diapers. As for Sa-hyeon, in the middle of the night, he grieves over Song Won and wonders whether he can live in this world anymore.
The ending
A couple of major moments happen at the end of episode 5:
First, Dong-ma meets Pi-young and takes her out for what seems like a business dinner at first, but surprisingly, he asks for her hand in marriage.
And finally, Si-eun tells her children about her romance with Seo Ban, but then the son reveals that he saw his father and how sick he was. Will the children change Si-eun’s mind about her future with Seo Ban? She’s always taken her children’s opinions seriously. We just want her to be happy.
