Elite season 5, episode 1 recap
During a party, Prince Phillipe buys Caye a drink. But as they toast, the lights go off. And Elodie plays a voice recording of him admitting that what he did was wrong, with Elodie saying that Prince Phillipe raped her. It flashes forward to Samuel in custody, and as he gets asked if he confesses, a male body floats in a pool.

Before we can find out all of the details as to what led to that deadly opening, however, it’s the start of the new school year. And with a new year comes Benjamin’s strict new rules. After being refused entry, Rebe sneaks into school whilst Prince Phillipe gets attacked by fellow pupils as Caye gets abused as “the rapist’s little b***h”. But new pupil Isadora comes to his rescue. Benjamin asks Samuel to visit Ari, but Samuel continues to be mopey and claims she doesn’t want to see him.
The second new pupil of Elite, Ivan, goes to the showers. And even though he claims not to be gay, he says he doesn’t mind if Patrick looks. And after the events of the previous season, Mencia tries to avoid Rebe. But when Rebe continues to pester her, Mencia has Rebe removed, at least for the day, from Las Encinas. After Patrick has (another) argument with his father, Benjamin, he has sex with Omar. Omar claims to still be in touch with Ander, but the lack of replies from Ander seems to suggest otherwise. Samuel meets with Ari, and as the reunion doesn’t go very well, Rebe suggests that they tell her that Armando is in the river.
The ending
As Ari eventually returns to school, there’s a huge party at Ivan’s house. However, it’s not Ivan’s party. Instead, it’s his father (Cruz, aka the most famous footballer in the world), who’s partying away. Isadora listens in on Caye and Prince Phillipe having a private discussion. Afterward, Isadora tells Caye that she should stand by Prince Phillipe. Patrick ignores Omar’s text and gets drunk with Ivan. They later get undressed together, but it’s unclear whether Ivan is just leading Patrick on. And after Ivan passes out, Cruz walks in on Patrick masturbating.
In the closing moment of the season five premiere, Caye goes on the school television and admits that whilst Prince Phillipe made a mistake, he is trying to redeem himself and that forgiveness is needed. Whilst it delights Isadora, it appears to infuriate Samuel. And it then cuts to the future where Samuels says that he killed him. So is Samuel a killer? Doubtful. As for now, are we even certain that Prince Phillipe is the victim? We never clearly saw the body after all.
