Roar season 1, episode 7 recap

After Anu cooks for her husband, Vik, she grows very mad over how they have to leave events when her husband decides to do so. After he pays little attention to her, Anu rants to his friends about the state of her marriage. She reveals that she feels trapped, that Vik holds her back, and that he has never tended to her needs. Whilst one friend dismisses her moans, another suggests that she returns Vik and get herself a new husband. Whilst some friends are more concerned about food, Anu is left thinking, should she return her husband?

And guess what? That’s what she does. She goes to the supermarket and deems Vik unsuitable. After returning him, Anu learns that the policy means she will have to exchange whilst Vik gets resold. Although she doesn’t initially want another husband, she returns home with a younger husband who as a past artist/ice cream scooper tends to her needs more than Vik did. But when he says that she reminds him of his Mom, Anu returns. Once again, she buys another husband. But, yet again, she also returns him.

The Ending

When Anu returns home, she learns that her neighbor Barbara has bought Vik. And now, he dresses differently and put in the effort that he lacked whilst married to Anu. Anu grows very jealous as she spies on the pair. She loses focus and runs Barbara over. Thankfully, Barbara is ok. And shortly afterward, Vik gets returned (again) as Barbara wasn’t keen on married life. Anu visits Vik in the supermarket, and Vik is now super cheap after being returned twice. And after both Anu and Vik accept that they took advantage of each other, they decide to get back together. This time, they promise that the marriage will be exciting. Except, this time, instead of buying Vik, Anu will steal him. She sneaks him into her trolley and runs out of the store. Fellow left behind husbands cheer them on as they flee.

After watching this episode, it’s likely that many wish they could return their partners in such an easy fashion. Meera Syal, as always, is absolutely fantastic in her role. So much so, that it wouldn’t be a surprise if some viewers deem her to be the greatest aspect of Roar. A great episode of Roar that might have been better suited as the finale. The reason why? The feel-good emotion audiences are left with at the end would have been a good feeling to have left the season on.
