Ozark is one of the greyest TV series on streaming services. It’s so depressing in terms of environment and set-up that it’s difficult to feel for the characters. However, I refuse to believe anyone does not feel anything for Ruth Langmore. Her character has lacked so much love, freedom, and happiness in life, that any glimpse of hope for her is met with broad smiles. We all wanted the best for Ruth. Her quirks, accent, and no-bullshit attitude captured the viewers’ hearts.
However, there was always a dark shadow hanging over her. She was also on the frays of danger. She never listened to Marty’s warning about killing Javi. She did it anyway. It was an understandable, emotional, and enraged decision. Wyatt was her last hope to be happy, and have that family feeling in life. She had already lost it with her father, and Marty’s father figure ways only go so far due to the manipulation behind their relationship.
In the last ever episode, Javi’s mother Camila finds out that Ruth killed her son after Clare Shaw reveals it all at the foundation party at the casino. Camila decides to deal with the situation herself.
Ozark season 4, part 2 – does Ruth Langmore die?
Sadly and tragically, yes. And we are sure fans will be appalled that Ruth was killed off. However, the golden rule has been apparent since season 1. If you hurt a cartel member, you are very likely to die. This death comes with pain because Ruth was so close to having her own financial wealth and a glimmer of happiness after taking half the land and money from Wyatt and Darlene’s assets. But avoiding repercussions from killing a cartel leader sounded too good to be true.
Even more painful is that Marty and Wendy do nothing to stop it. To be fair, they couldn’t. Camila threatened to kill them if they intervened. But, there was a slither of hope that Marty would try to do something at the moment. Maybe sacrifice himself to save Ruth? But it turns out the Byrde family prioritizes themselves above everyone else. Ruth is another demise due to Marty and Wendy’s actions.
