Summary
As per the case with The Boys, episode three plays on the selfish desire of the superheroes. And that is precisely what sets this show apart from other superhero-led shows. Again, not as action-packed as some previous episodes in The Boys‘ catalog, but an intense episode nonetheless.

The Boys season 3, episode 3 recap
17 years ago. Starlight gets forced by her Mom to take part in a Little Miss Pageant. Back in the present timeline and Ashley tells Homelander his profile has had a positive increase, with many loving his confident persona. Billy torments himself as he reflects back on the murder he committed in the previous episode. Starlight tells Ashley that she has the final say over who gets the final two slots and tells her who she wants to be chosen.
Billy, Frenchie, The Female, and Marvin pay a visit to Grace. Meanwhile, Starlight corners Alex and tells him that Homelanders have threatened to kill her and her family and that he must turn down the invite to the Seven. A-Train meets with her brother, Nathan, who says the boys will welcome him back to the crib. The Female and Ryan bond over having and not liking powers. Billy confronts Grace over being a case officer way back when. She reveals that it was part of “Operation Charlotte”. At that time, she was in charge of trafficking cocaine and using the profits to buy weapons. And when she sold the cocaine, she only did so in minority neighborhoods.
Homelander brings The Deep back into the fold and tells Starlight to get him into the Seven. However, Starlight is livid and will not allow the man who mouth r***d her into the team. Starlight threatens to release that video. So Homelander warns her that if she does so, he’ll have nothing to lose and will begin by wiping New York City off the map. Starlight then calls Hughie and tells him that Homelander is losing it and she wants to leave. Hughie, however, tells her that as he and the others have a plan to kill Homelander, she must stay close to him. When The Deep has sex with Cassandra, it becomes that the sealife turns him on.
The ending
Billy becomes sick, but Ryan warns him that it isn’t just from a dodgy kebab and it must be something else. Grace retells the story of she lost 116 men, with the one responsible for the attack getting full immunity. Homelander brings The Deep a dish, Timothy, aka the Octopus. The Deep claims that he won’t eat it; Cassandra texts him and tells him to eat the Octopus. Although the process seems to give Homelander and Cassandra satisfaction, it nearly makes Ashley vomit.
Billy tells Frenchie to organize a meeting between him and Nina. And although Frenchie is against it, Billy forces him. The reason? But as Billy tells Frenchie and The Female, they’re going to Russia. Meanwhile, Alex tells Starlight that he is going to join the team as he won’t back out now. But as he puts it, he is doing so as someone has got to have Starlight’s back. As Hughie goes to talk with Billy, Billy throws up on him. And in a ceremony, Homelander and Starlight choose Alex (Supersonic) and The Deep as the final two members of the Seven. Although, in the same broadcast, Homelander claims that he and Starlight are an item, #Homelight. Clearly, Starlight is unhappy with the latest development, but she keeps up with the act regardless.
