Summary

A great format that, like the first season, is heavily brought down by highly annoying contestants that may result in audiences turning off the show. Otherwise, it’s a silly show that entertains.

This review of the Netflix series Floor Is Lava season 2 does not contain any spoilers.

One of the most fun game shows returns to Netflix. In some ways, it’s quite a shock that the show even returned at all. But regardless, the silly game show is here for us all to enjoy. Much like season one of Floor Is Lava, it does exactly what the title leads you to think. As a result, we get five episodes (five less than season one, I will add) of pure nonsense that you can’t help but watch.

In a show that has the danger of becoming too “samey”, the second season has, at least, changed some aspects of the show. And with those changes come more opportunities to fall into the lava. But what I will add is that Floor is Lava season two is unlikely to change your opinion from the first season. If you weren’t a fan of season one, it’d probably be a waste of your time trying to watch the second season. However, whilst saying that, if you adored the first season, the chances are that you’ll love this batch of episodes as much.

What could alienate some viewers from Floor is Lava is that the show is very American, with many of the contestants being annoying/cringy for the entire time that they’re on screen. There are definitely going to be times that you’ll be rooting for the contestants to fall into the lava. And when you find yourself rooting against 99% of the contestants, how much of the show can you watch before ultimately you turn it off?

For some, the highlight (or the low point) of the season will be the final episode. Featuring some of Netflix’s biggest reality stars, such as Harry and Chase from Too Hot To Handle, they are possibly less annoying than some of the other contestants who have taken part in the show. Overall, the beauty of Floor is Lava is that it’s a game that the audience watching at home will be desperate to take part in. Or at least imagine what they would do if they did take part.
