There are three Jakes in Boo, Bitch, which can get rather confusing at times, yet the most important of these is Erika’s crush and Riley’s current boyfriend – Jake C. This stereotypical hunk is played by Mason Versaw (tick, tick… BOOM!), who is one of the main players in the show.
Who is Jake C in Boo, Bitch season 1?
Jake C is your clichéd, teenage heart throb, not quite a frat boy and not quite a loner. He’s that stereotypical love interest, who is quiet and distant, but also approachable and laidback. Jake C has long curly hair and a ripped physique. Erika has had a crush on him since she first started high school and manages to spark up a conversation with him at her first house party. They get along well and nearly kiss on that fated night. Jake C has just split up with long-term girlfriend Riley and seems attracted to the free-spirited Erika. She nearly throws up as they go in for the kiss and Erika settles for his phone number instead.
Jake C and Erika’s relationship is a complex one, filled with many ups and downs. You’d think it would blossom after the first party but it takes them on a rollercoaster of emotions instead. Erika is obsessed with the teen at first, but then appears distant to him, ghosting the boy. She is then desperate for his attention, hunting for that first kiss and then all of a sudden wants him to date Riley instead. Erika doesn’t want to go to prom, then she does, then she changes her mind again, back and forth, multiple times. She is extremely hot and cold with the poor chap. When she goes through her mean girl phase, Erika is manipulative and controlling towards him too. For a man who hates drama, Erika definitely supplies an inordinate amount of the stuff. After dating Riley and Erika, he must be a sucker for the drama and his friends point this out.
His friends think he’s a drama addict, although he is adamant he much prefers the easy life. Jake C respects his friends’ opinions though and worries that dating Erika will upset their friendship groups. In this respect, Jake C can be too nice at times and is quite the doormat. He lets Erika, Riley and his friends walk all over him and is happy to just go with the flow. Ultimately, Jake C will stand up for himself, but it takes a while to get to that point. He does eventually dump Erika, the same way as Riley, but then inevitably goes back to them both.
Jake C is an odd character, who can be contradictory at times. He says he hates drama but then dates the two most polarizing girls in school. He can be a doormat one moment and then decisive in the other. A clichéd love interest, who watches the drama unfold without getting too involved himself. After all, he may be too nice and too laidback for his own good.
