Resident Evil season 1, episode 5 recap
Once again, unknown people restrain Jade. This time, though, Jade reacts in shock when one of them takes their mask off. Who do you think it is? I’m going to guess that it is Albert or Evelyn. In 2022, Evelyn brings Albert to Angel, who has since had the “s**t beaten out of him”. With Angel’s reveal in the last episode clearly bothering her, Jade tells Billie they must find their birth certificates. So, they search through several areas of their home. In their search, Jade finds a hidden laptop with a different password than what Albert usually uses. So, Jade turns to Simon for help. And when Simon mentions he has two Moms, it’s safe to assume that Evelyn and Diana are his Moms.
When Simon hacks into Albert’s laptop, he learns that Albert has a “dead-drop email” ready to be sent to Billie. In the email, Albert reveals that Umbrella will be after Billie and that she must protect Jade. So Simon offers to provide Jade and Billie with some illegal help by hacking their home CCTV footage. And whilst Jade and Billie wonder why Umbrella would go after them, Simon wonders if Umbrella would go after Evelyn as well. Jade and Billie realise that Albert is leaving behind clues, and when they play the piano, they find a secret note and a hole in the ground. Inside is $10,000, a gun, and fake passports.
And through their guesswork, Jade and Billie (and Simon) use the dog whistle/dog to unlock a door to a hidden passage. But, as the sisters head further down, they lose connection with Simon. Once they are downstairs, they learn that Albert stores their blood. They look into a box labelled “RC 1998” that has a DVD on someone called Lisa. They watch the DVD, where Albert is heard saying, “if she tries anything, shoot the bi*ch”. And then, Albert interacts with a “subject” who has been exposed to the virus and has a giant eyeball on her back. Jade learns that Albert has a file on Billie where he writes that Billie “may need to be contained”.
The ending
As the sisters go to leave, Jade triggers a switch, and a “burn sequence” activates. As the room fills with flames, and it seems the sisters face certain death, Albert disables the fire. When Jade and Billie question what Albert has been up to, he turns violent towards them. As a result, Billie knocks Albert out. When he regains consciousness, he is strapped to the same chair he had planned to use to “contain” Billie. There, Albert reveals that “joy” turns people inhuman. He claims that Billie is “strong”, which could be why she reacts differently to the virus. Albert pretty much reveals that Jade and Billie are experiments and that he monitors them on behalf of Umbrella. But Albert reveals that they must let him go as he is the only one who can save them.
Resident Evil episode five ends as it goes back to its opening scene. The person underneath the mask is none other than Billie, who simply says, “Hi, sis”.
