Summary

With Bode under Dodge’s control, he becomes a far much more entertaining character; and definitely far less annoying than he was in the previous two episodes. But with the way the episode ended, does it mean that Dodge’s control of Bode will soon end? Hopefully not.

Locke and Key season 3, episode 4 recap

As Captain Frederick Gideon, James, and Samuel sit around a campfire, the Captain learns that “another” is here. Meanwhile, Dodge learns a few new things about the Lockes whilst controlling Bode’s body. After Bode tries to send a warning to his family, Dodge threatens to kill them all if Bode pulls another stunt like that. Carly has grown worried over Tyler. So, ever the gentlemen, Tyler invites her in.

At school, Dodge raises a few eyebrows as his violent behavior is very unlike Bode’s usual self. Whilst out for lunch with Nina, Josh, and Jamie, Dodge insults Josh. And then, when something’s wrong with Dodge, he makes an excuse to go outside, where he finds Captain Frederick Gideon. The Captain reveals that with each key he possesses, the portal between the two worlds grows larger. If Dodge succeeds, he will serve as Captain Frederick Gideon’s right hand, which sounds good to Dodge. Tyler and Carly grow closer, but when Carly tries to kiss him, he doesn’t let her. He tries to tell her that it has nothing to do with her; but rather because he is still grieving the death of his ex-girlfriend.

When Dodge goes to get the keys, based on Gideon’s intel, Dodge finds nothing. Dodge tries to get Doug to tell him where the keys are, and when it looks like Dodge may kill Doug, there’s a distraction. Ellie tells Rufus that she wants to start afresh, but Rufus is against the change. As Tyler is growing sick and tired of his family, he tells Carly that he wants to go back to Montana. Everyone continues to discuss Bode’s behavior as they remain oblivious that it’s actually Dodge controlling him. But Rufus seems suspicious and tries to trick Dodge/Bode. Rufus quickly realizes that it’s not Bode.

The Ending

When Ellie and Nina interrupt the pair of them fighting, Dodge warns Rufus that he will kill Ellie and Nina if he reveals anything. So Rufus remains silent. Whilst Carly returns to Montana, Tyler stays; but he does kiss her just before she leaves. Tyler tells Kinsey that he wants to be there for the family, and that’s why he’s not going just yet. When Kinsey goes to get the memory key, Dodge finally learns where all of the keys are. And moments later, Kinsey uses the key on Tyler, and he remembers everything.

As the fourth episode of Locke and Key comes to a close, she finds Dodge’s body under his bed just as Dodge/Bode walks in and asks, “What are you doing in my room?”
