Did you ever forget your books when going to school? I certainly did. Well, School Tales the Series Season 1 Episode 1 of this horror anthology puts a dark twist on the routine activity of bringing relevant subject books to school. Let’s recap it.
School Tales the Series Season 1 Episode 1 Recap
“7AM” begins with Day 1 at 7:55 AM. A student looks rushed and panics as he enters the school. He meets another student, Q, who tells him he couldn’t find his book. He searches frankly in an empty classroom, but then the lights turn off, and the school enters a strange warm aura. “Society and Government” appears on the blackboard. A burst of energy strikes the student, and he hits the blackboard. A spirit attacks the student. In the next scene, a student girl drags the student’s bloody dead body.
Every day, the spirit brings the subject of a book to a student named Q on a blackboard. If they do not bring the book before the time runs out, they will be killed and erased from everyone’s memories.
The next day, a boy student gathers the rest of the students and talks of a curse or a spirit that they need to get rid of. They all look to Q to find solutions for them, but he walks out as they start to tell him to get to school at 7 am.
Day 2 comes. It’s precisely 7 am. Q arrives at school, but he has breakfast first. The other students ask him for a photo — he’s the only one that can see what gets written on the blackboard. He runs to the classroom and sees “Thai Literature” written on the blackboard. He takes a photo, sends it to the group chat, and sends it to the rest of the group. As he does this, he senses the spirit trying to touch him.
During class, it happens again; the lights turn off, and there’s a strange warm aura. All the students start stabbing their hands with pencils. Q is spooked, but it turns out it was not happening; the spirit is toying with him. After class, Q is confronted again about being late. Q gets irritated and tells them that if he gets to school too early, his life will be at risk. As the discussion turns to bullying, one of his friends, Tan, defends him.
Day 3 arrives, and this time it’s 6:30 AM. Q arrives at school and takes a photo of the clock. The group chat puts pressure on him to find the ghost. Q slowly walks towards the classroom, clearly frightened. He turns on the camera for the group chat. The subject on the blackboard is “Mathematics.” He asks the group chat if they are satisfied, but then the spirit grabs him by the neck. He falls onto the floor unconscious.
He wakes up in the school infirmary. His friend Tan tells him that his camera turned off, and they found him unconscious in front of the class. He asks for the footage, and the video shows him strangling himself. They believe he had a mental episode.
A student named Auan cannot find his book with the latest subject. He asks the other students for help. Tan and Q offer to help him. Auan is adamant he brought the book and blames the other students for hiding it from him.
School Tales the Series Season 1 Episode 1 Ending
One of the boy students gets angry at Tan, accusing her of sleeping with Q. He’s jealous because she’s been helping him. Tan tells him that she did sleep with Q so that they could use him to fight this spirit. She tells the jealous student that they’d all be dead by now if it wasn’t for her. They clearly have a romantic relationship.
Auan finds his mathematics book and shows everyone a drawing of a spirit on it. His friend Vaan hid it from him. Vaan gets agitated and reveals he did not bring his book. He was in a rush and left it in his father’s car. And then the clock strikes 8 AM. Time has run out. The spirit glides around the class. Vaan took the maths book off Auan before he could react. He’s the next target. Auan tries to run away from the spirit. But it is too late.
Day 4 arrives. It’s 7 AM. Q heads to the class and wipes off the latest subject. Flashbacks reveal he overheard Tan saying she used him. He sends the wrong subject to the students — “Society and Government.” It was really “Thai Literature.”
Now all the students face the spirit. The students panic and try to leave the classroom but are locked in. Q watches them all. Tan is the first victim. Her head ripped off. On the news, it is reported that one of the teachers had a breakdown and massacred all the students.
Flashbacks show that Tan and her boyfriend wanted to test if the curse was real; they stole the book from the first student who was killed by the curse. It would help if you didn’t mess with curses, folks.
