This article discusses the Netflix special documentary film Nightmare of the Wolf: Bestiary, including the premise, release date, cast, and trailer.

Netflix is continuing to expand its library of content descending from The Witcher. Following on from 2021’s The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, we will soon have another companion film to watch in the form of Nightmare of the Wolf: Bestiary, an 11-minute follow-up to last year’s feature-length anime.

Here’s everything we know about Nightmare of the Wolf: Bestiary:

Nightmare of the Wolf: Bestiary premise

As Netflix describes –

“Dig into the dark mythological origins of the many monsters — manticores, wraiths, werewolves, and more — stalking ‘The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.’”

Our opinion of the premise

It sounds very extra. Additional supporting materials to go alongside the main feature just seem a bit much. Then again, is what Netflix is doing with these ‘companion’ films any different to the old-style DVD extras we used to get when more of us used to actually purchase the films and TV shows we watched? Nonetheless, if I was someone thinking about getting into The Witcher universe, having such a vast range of shorts and spin-offs when the flagship series hasn’t even released its third season would be more than a little daunting.

The production team

Information about the production team behind Nightmare of the Wolf: Bestiary isn’t yet known, however, it doesn’t seem unreasonable to assume it will be held up largely by the same team who produced The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

Nightmare of the Wolf: Bestiary cast

Cast information is unknown at this time.

Nightmare of the Wolf: Bestiary release date

The special documentary will release globally on August 23, 2022.

Is there a trailer?

We get it… Netflix is very proud of its work revolving around The Witcher, and no doubt hardcore fans will love every crumb that the streamer puts out into the world. It’s just a lot to be met with when you search the platform for the show and over ten suggestions pop up. How deep do things need to get? It seems that every new film or season comes with an accompanying encyclopaedia, as well as a deep-dive behind the scenes so literally every front of related content is covered. It’s exhausting just to look at!
