Tekken: Bloodline season 1, episode 4 recap

Episode 4 opens with Ling Xiaoyu bothering Jin as he meditates. She tells him that his fight is next, so he needs to hurry up. He will be going up against Leroy Smith, the man that confronted him the day before in a threatening way.

And so, the fight begins — Jin Kazama versus Leroy Smith. It’s clear early on that Leroy is good as Jin struggles against him. But the memory of his mother keeps him fighting. He manages to knock Leroy to the floor — after a few more beatings, Jin tells Leroy that he’s lost his fight. But Leroy refuses to give up, which leads to him breaking his leg. Jin wins his first fight.

However, despite the win, Jin is not pleased that Leroy would not back down. He tells Hwoarang that Leroy was fighting him like it was personal.

Next up is Ling Xiaoyu versus Nina Williams. Jin warns Ling, telling her that Nina is a hired killer. But Ling is confident. Jin tells Heihachi that he should not have let Ling fight because she is just a kid. His grandfather tells him that the difference between him and Ling is that Ling has a strategy rather than feeling sorry for herself. And so, Ling Xiaoyu defeats Nina William confidently by knockout.

Jin decides to visit Leroy Smith to check up on him. He asks about his leg and gives him advice. Leroy calls Jin one of Heihachi’s thugs. Jin says he isn’t one of his thugs and that this tournament is personal. Leroy tells Jin that Heihachi is using him like he uses everyone. Heihachi turns up and explains to Jin that he should be preparing for his next fight and not wasting his time with Leroy.

Heihachi tells Jin that the only way to avenge his mother’s death is to defeat Ogre.

The ending

And so, it’s Jin versus Hwoarang in the next fight. As he fights his next opponent, he remembers his mother’s words about not taking pleasure in the suffering of others. But then he hears  Heihachi’s voice inside his head — to fight like a Mishima. Jin defeats Hwoarang convincingly and offers to buy him beers. Heihachi seems annoyed that he did not “finish him” brutally.
