Do Revenge is a mix of modern-day Dangerous Liaisons and Alfred Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train. The new Netflix subversive dark comedy is wickedly entertaining and full of surprises. The story follows two high schools students, Drea (Riverdale’s Camila Mendes) and Eleanor (Stranger Things’ Maya Hawke)., as they attempt to get revenge on the cohorts who wronged them by infiltrating and gaining the trust of each student’s nemesis. Hence, the Alfred Hitchcock inspiration, as their bullies have no clue they know each other.

Like so many movies, Do Revenge was filmed in Atlanta, the state capital of Georgia. The script was bought with the intent of being developed by Netflix on October 14th, 2020. The script, co-written by director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, was originally titled Strangers. And you can see the reason and influence. Reportedly, the story was inspired by the Alfred Hitchcock classic, Strangers on a Train. By the end of November 2020, Maya Hawke and Camila Mendez filled out the main characters, with additional cast members Austin Abrams, Sophie Turner, Talia Ryder, Alisha Boe, and Sarah Michelle Gellar officially joining the cast.

There is a wealth of classic and popular films shot in Atlanta’s Tyler Perry Studios, which has a massive 330-acre campus. Shows like All the Queen’s Men, Cobra-Kai, She-Hulk, and even Ricky & Morty have been shot there, as well as features such as First Man, Red Notice, Coming 2 America, Zombieland: Double Tap, and of course, A Madea Homecoming. And, of course, you have the Marvel Cinematic Universe with movies like the Avengers, Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, and Black Widow.
