Produced by the BBC Natural History Unit, this award-winning series, Planet Earth, took five years to film, and it is the BBC’s costliest nature documentary. This spectacular series explores the different habitats on Earth through a high-definition lens. 

Planet Earth II (2016)

Planet Earth II is a sequel to the same-name series released in 2006, and it was the first nature documentary series filmed in 4K. Along with stunning scenery, the series features a music score composed by Hans Zimmer himself.

Blue Planet II (2017–2022)

Blue Planet II, narrated by David Attenborough , includes spectacular ocean scenery and sea creatures that haven’t been yet shown on camera. It also features newly discovered ocean life forms such as the dancing yeti crab.

Frozen Planet (2011–2012)

Another winning BBC documentary narrated by David Attenborough, Frozen Planet focuses its attention on the habitat in both the Arctic and the Antarctic. The series won four Emmy awards for its impressive imagery. 

Africa (2013)

Africa is one of the most diverse continents on the planet and this docuseries takes the viewer on an exciting journey. Each episode focuses on a different habitat, including savannas, jungles and deserts, while following the animals that inhabit them. 

A Perfect Planet (2021)

A Perfect Planet is a bit different from the other titles on this list. This BBC series focuses on landscape and Earth science-type topics. The last episode gives a poignant look at how human life is affecting the planet.
