However, Pennyworth season 3, episode 1 had a wacky ending after Alfie dreamt of Jessica murdering her parents. And when Alfie was sitting and having breakfast with his Mum, a blood-soaked Jessica knocked on the door. So what happens next? Read the below recap to find out.
Pennyworth: The Origin of Batman’s Butler season 3, episode 2 recap
Following the death of her parents, Jessica is being held on suspicion of their murders. Even Alfie is being questioned about their deaths. But Alfie tells Victor that he doesn’t believe that Jessica would have killed her parents. When Victor introduces Alfie to Jessica’s nanny, it’s not the same person who Alfie has thought he’d been speaking to in the previous episode. Thomas confronts Martha about what his father told him. After Martha comes clean about being an active MI5 agent, it causes an argument between the pair.
Thomas goes to see Alfie, who is rather preoccupied with other matters, and asks if he is aware of the kind of work that Martha does. Dave learns that the guard has been drugged and someone has taken Jessica. He manages to track them down, but after a brief struggle, in which Dave kills the attempted kidnapper, Jessica falls down a flight of stairs. Luckily, she’s ok after landing on a bunch of towels. The fake nanny finds Alfie and says that she’s an actress. She claims that two men attempted to kill her. When Dave calls Alfie and tells him what happened to Jessica, Alfie realizes that loose ends are being tied.
Alfie bumps into Sandra, and her new boyfriend, Ian. It’s an awkward encounter, which suggests their story is far from complete. Martha goes to see Susie. But when Susie refuses her entry, she breaks into her place instead. Susie spots her and goes to attack her, but Martha is too fast for her.
The ending
As a result, Martha questions Susie. Susie confesses to allowing her followers as guinea pigs in a drug trial. But then there might be trouble around the corner. After Susie distracts Martha, she knocks her out. At that moment, two armed thugs, likely from the CIA, appear and shoot Susie in the head. When it appears they might do the same to Martha, Alfie and Dave appear and shoot the thugs dead.
The trio, Alfie, Dave, and Martha, speculate whether the drugs are what made Jessica kill her parents. With the realization that Sandra’s life could be in danger as she’s with Jessica, Alfie and Dave rush to save her. Meanwhile, Martha learns the recording device is linked to Wayne Enterprises. At Sandra’s place, Jessica has a reaction to the music being played, and she grabs a knife. As the phone rings, we hear people being slaughtered off-screen. We then see her violently murder people. Ian pushes Sandra in an attempt to save his own life. However, it backfires when Jessica stabs him to death. As Sandra hides under the bed, Alfie and Dave rush to save her. The episode ends as Jessica drags Sandra out from under the bed. As she is about to stab Sandra, she gets shot in the head.
