This article discusses the Netflix limited series The Playlist, including the release date, time, synopsis, cast, and how to watch online.

Netflix is releasing a brand-new, six-episode limited series that will follow the creation of a legal streaming service for music, or what we now know as Spotify. It is based on the book by Sven Carlsson and Jonas Leijonhufvud Spotify Untold, and if you haven’t heard of it, here we present all the information we have so far to catch you up to speed.

Netflix series The Playlist synopsis

From Netflix, here is the official synopsis for the new limited series:

“Led by Daniel Ek, a group of passionate young entrepreneurs come together in what seems to be the impossible task to change the music industry – and the world. They set out to create a legal streaming service for music.”

Our opinion of the premise

The premise sounds fascinating, especially for me, one of the biggest fans of The Social Network out there, as this just seems like that movie extended into a television series with a small shift in the subject matter. (There is obviously a connection between the two, as Justin Timberlake played the creator of Napster in David Fincher’s movie.) I also love Silicon Valley, so count me in for this!

The Playlist release date

The limited series will be released globally on Netflix on Thursday, October 13th at 12 am PT.

How to watch The Playlist online

Audiences will be able to watch the series with a subscription to Netflix. The basic plan for Netflix is $9.99. If you want HD, you’ll need to get the standard package at $15.49. Finally, for Ultra HD, the premium package costs $19.99. Additionally, here is everything we know about the plan for Netflix adverts.
