Jeon Yeo-been is an award-winning South Korean actress who made her debut back in 2015. Since then she has starred in many movies and K-dramas and guest-starred in several television shows. She was the recipient of the Grand Bell Award as Best New Actress in the 2018 film After My Death and had a main role in Night In Paradise, the only Korean movie to have been invited to the 77th Venice International Film Festival.

Yeo-been has also worked with Netflix — her role in Vincenzo was particularly well-received and won her multiple awards, and she also stars in the ten-episode sci-fi comedy Glitch, about UFOs, aliens, and religious cults. Glitch (2022)

Yeo-been has a starring role in the 2022 sci-fi comedy Glitch, briefly described above. In it, she plays a young woman who must team up with her UFO-obsessed childhood friend to search for her missing boyfriend when he disappears. It’s only early days for this one yet, but at the time of writing this is her worst-reviewed work, with a score of 7.6/10.

Official synopsis:

About a woman searching for her missing boyfriend, who disappeared one night in a flash of unknown lights. With the help of a community of UFO watchers, she uncovers the truth behind a mysterious secret. Hong Ji Hyo is a “parachute hire” (someone who got hired based on their family connections). She has a steady job and a solid family background. Although they are no longer passionately in love, she also has a boyfriend that she’s dated for four years. The couple is beginning to think of marriage when her boyfriend suddenly goes missing.

Heo Bo Ra is an unsuccessful Twitch streamer and a YouTuber with only a few hundred subscribers, whose content is all about mysteries. She’s a warrior who wields a keyboard as her weapon, and she’s a member of the UFO watcher community. She spends day after day inside her room, editing her videos.


Be Melodramatic (2019)

In this popular comedy-drama about three best friends, Yeo-been plays a documentary director with her own production company, and one of her films becomes extremely popular overnight. Be Melodramatic was very well-received across its 16-episode run, with an overall score of 8.5/10.

Im Jin Joo, Lee Eun Jung, and Hwang Han Joo are best friends who are 30-years-old. Hwang Han Joo is the head of a marketing team for a drama production company. Save Me (2017)

This series, which has some similar themes to Glitch in how it deals with religious cults, only became more popular and highly rated as it progressed. Yeo-been only has a supporting role in Save Me, but the show overall was very well received with an overall rating of 8.6/10

Following the failure of her father’s business, Sang Mi and her family move to Muji-gun where they have no friends or relatives. There she meets four young men, Han Sang Hwan, Seok Dong Cheol, Woo Jung Hoon, and Choi Man Hee. When Sang Mi and her family face some trouble, Spiritual Father Baek Jung Ki of Goosunwon offers to help them. However, her family is slowly getting sucked into the pseudo-religious cult and the four young men try to save her.


Live (2018)

This well-regarded drama about a police department only featured Yeo-been in a guest capacity for a single episode, but it’s a solid credit to have given that the show’s 18-episode run garnered it an impressive score of 8.7/10.

The drama revolves around the incidents that occur in the police force and the joy, sorrow, and pain that police officers experience as they try to protect justice. Yeom Sang Soo, is determined to live in the mainstream of society by becoming a public official. However, he becomes an icon of misfortune with every case that he handles and runs into conflict with a superior. Han Jung Oh is Yeom Sang Soo’s co-worker and a female officer that works to fight male chauvinism. The two characters with high fighting spirit join efforts to solve incidents.


Vincenzo (2021)

Surprising nobody, this beloved 20-episode Netflix series is Yeo-been’s crowning achievement. As mentioned above she was nominated for multiple awards for this performance and won several. It was also an enormous hit for Netflix and stands at a highly impressive score of 9.0/10.

At the age of eight, Park Joo Hyeong went to Italy after being adopted. He is now an adult and known as Vincenzo Cassano to the Mafia, who employs him as a consigliere. Because mafia factions are at war with each other, he flees to South Korea, where he gets involved with lawyer Hong Cha Young. She is the type of attorney who will do anything to win a case.
