James Cosmo is an award’s worthy supporting turn in an exciting episode that turns up the action and the political intrigue.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan season 3, episode 6 recap

Jack Ryan lands in the states and is met by Greer at the plane. He informs Jack that Elizabeth, transitioning from a typical bureaucrat to an unexpected ally, has been grounded to desk duty. They both comment on how they owe her. One, for not turning Greer in for aiding Jack when he had a red notice over his head, the other for covering for Jack as he pursued the bomb.

When they arrive at the home base, Jack is no fool. He is aware Miller will be sending agents to arrest him in a purely cosmetic look that he is in control. So, Jack escapes from the building with the help of November. (Who was supposed to be waiting at the restaurant, but Jack never thought he would order). As a backup plan, it appears they arranged for Jack and November to be arrested by the local police, which has jurisdiction over the CIA, set by President Kovac. Who, incidentally, arrested Radek’s wife and shakes her down for information about where the bomb may be heading.

Meanwhile, he delivers the bomb to the Czech Republic. He, in Jack’s eyes, is selfishly playing a dangerous game. How? He could have taken Sokol off the market, but he is using it to track a loose end he never took care of back during the Cold War days. That is Petr, President Kovac’s father, and her most trusted advisor. He has risen to the ranks as a political influencer with a broad reach looking to make Russia great again. Petr pulled the strings to get his daughter elected, not because he was a loving father. He used her as a beard to obtain valuable information. Greer finally locates Petr’s real identity. He was a Russian soldier with the last name Lebedev and took over someone else’s identity. (Which we saw in the previous episode).

Jack and company discover Petr has arranged the bomb on a NATO convoy. That puts the team in high gear and an impossible task. How does Jack save everyone from Sokol? He needs the help of a local United States Army officer to intercept it. The plan is to block the truck’s path in an underground tunnel. They also kill the lights. If they can get the bomb to go off in this area, it will contain the blast. The play goes according to plan, but the two officers use their truck to block the path and run out of the tunnel for their lives.

There was not enough time for them to make it, so Jack drove an Army Jeep into the danger zone to give them a lift. He manages to get the vehicle towards the end of the tunnel, but Sokol goes off when the enemy drives the bomb right at the Army truck blocking its path. Jack and the two men in his vehicle are sent flying inside and over the dam. November runs to the railing and sees all three men injured but climbing out of the truck.

They have survived.

Ending Explained

Luka catches up with Petr and shoots him but avoids a fatal wound. Kovac and her security team arrest him. At the end of the episode, Kovac’s trust in people is now wiped clean, and Luka drops a bombshell. Arranging this NATO vehicle moving nuclear material is the final escalation for a full-scale war.

Jack is concerned, but Luka tells him, “You have me,” and then walks onto the plane.
