Glitch season 1, episode 4 recap

At the beginning of this episode, Ji-hyo doesn’t remember anything about the night the light came to her, and she completely blocked it out. Bora stayed in her mind but what happened in the 72 hours did not. The two of them tried to film what they saw in the apartment, but the cat (Bora is afraid of them) got in the way of that.

Ji-hyo wants to go to the cops with this but Bora does not trust them at all. They get into a huge argument about it and split up. Bora wants to trail the realtor and the people that went to see the apartment. She remembers things differently between her and Ji-hyo. She remembers that Ji-hyo was the one that changed, and she left her after she stopped believing in everything. Ji-hyo always knew that symbol from her childhood, and so did Bora, they’ve been connected for years, and now it’s all coming together. J

i-hyo goes to the detective behind Bora’s back and the detective still doesn’t believe her. Bora stalks the cult of the divine light and manages to get into the office. Bora and her partners get into the cult, and no one questions them.

So in this episode, we see that religion and science coincide. They see a combination of things in there while Bora starts recording everything. Ji-hyo can watch the stream at work but she’s also having really bad flashbacks. While Bora is filming, the rest of the cult members go into the virtual world together. They act like they’re being possessed by a higher being through the chants and the lights around them.

The light that forms in the middle of the room is the same symbol that they’ve been seeing. The lights are being projected and the people in the VR headset believe it’s their faith that is letting the light in. One of the cult leaders starts floating and rising above everyone while the lights are swirling around her. Then there’s smoke that comes out of the side and the creators are showing that it’s possibly fake to the audience. The smoke affected Bora and she starts coughing. She gets out of there while she’s still streaming and meets one of the cult’s leaders. Ji-hyo thinks she’s helping Bora by calling the cops, but it is a very bad idea.

The ending

Chungwoo the cult leader, takes Bora’s phone and also roughs her up a bit. Ji-hyo tries to stop Chungwoo in his car and she does. She takes a fire extinguisher and uses it on him to get out of the car and demands to know where Bora is. The cops come and end up arresting Ji-hyo instead. Chungwoo was also brought in and said he would not be pressing charges on Ji-hyo for the assault. Bora doesn’t talk in front of the cops which confuses Ji-hyo and everyone thinks she’s crazy after going on about aliens.

Ji-hyo has another flashback to what happened between the two of them in their childhood. The flashbacks at the beginning and at the end of episodes really tie everything together and the audience gets to fill in the blanks together. Ji-hyo really tries to remember and with every new moment with Bora, something in her memory is triggered.
