Glitch season 1, episode 6 recap
The cult has to find Ji-hyo and they assess how young she is. The other abducted people have been considered “Messiah” candidates. Seo sends the photo of Ji-hyo to Chungwoo and now he’s stuck. She asks him to find her and bring her to the church. Chungwoo finds out where they’re going to be at the psychiatric hospital and tries to get more information. So Chungwoo frames Ji-hyo to get his daughter back.
A friend of Bora’s, Captain Prince, gets his hand squashed in between the hood of the car. So he can no longer drive them up to the psychiatric hospital. No one else knows how to drive a car, so Ji-hyo steps up and she drives. She’s moving slowly so they feel like they’re never going to get there. Eventually, when Ji-hyo drives into the forest, she hits a mud hole and the car gets stuck.
They are so close to the location that they end up finding it on foot. The Divine Light Church has a history of mass suicides but when the detective went to find out more all the cases made against them had been closed. Bora, Ji-hyo, and the rest of the group figure out a plan to get past security at the facility. Two of them jump the fence, while the others send one guy out to distract the guards so they walk in without any hassle.
The distraction was one of their friends saying that he was lost and his car got stuck in the mud. Once their friend lures the security away from the fence and into the forest where the car is, they all get in. But, Bora and Ji-hyo would get more things done without worrying about the rest of their friends. As they go exploring, Ji-hyo finds out that they are first abducted by aliens, and then by the Divine Light church just to recruit them as candidates to be the new Messiah.
Bora makes her way inside the facility without telling Ji-hyo and now she’s stuck outside with the guards. Bora disguises herself as a nurse and makes her way through the facility. She records as much as she can. We also find out that Sikook is alive. He doesn’t remember how he got there, but they tell him that he attempted suicide and that’s why he’s at the hospital. Bora has to hide in a room because the missionaries were about to see her. They needed to go into the room that Bora locked herself in, but the security guards call them out just in time.
The security is being called because there has been a breach and their friend is trying to hold them off on his own. Bora then sees that the boxes that are being loaded into the back of the truck that Ji-hyo sees before are all filled with people in VR headsets. They are strapped down and sedated. Those are the possible Messiah candidates.
The ending
The father of the cult is in a room with the projected lights and Bora is locked in there with him. He breaks her phone so no one sees what happens in there. We find out that Younson is his wife and Bora took his photo album. She taunts him because she figured it all out. Bora then sets the shrine of Younson and her husband on fire in that room and escapes. Bora and Ji-hyo try to escape by driving the truck through the gates, but it’s no use. Instead, Bora climbs out and hops the fence and Ji-hyo tries to fight everyone off by staying behind the fence.
The security realizes that she is the Messiah and takes her into the facility. The more the audience finds out about this cult and the facility, the more it appears to be a facade, and Ji-hyo may not understand what she is seeing. She is then labeled as the Messiah and is taken in by the missionaries who have been waiting for her. It becomes more interesting as the series goes on because there’s a twist in the second half of the season.
