Summary

This is the most intense episode of the season because of the mental trauma Ji-hyo has to go through. She has to listen to other people tell her who she is and what happened to her as a child. Trying to remember has been the hardest thing for her, but to see what the cult is capable of is a bit unsettling.

Glitch Season 1, Episode 7 begins with Ji-hyo in a simulation that Father puts her in. But once the simulation starts glitching, it messes with her mind and memory. They decided to sedate her to get anything out of her memory about the aliens. Her dad has no idea where she is, and the detective does know her whereabouts. Bora attempted to kill Seo, but Chanwoo stopped her because he still needed to get to his daughter.

Seo drives off without even knowing that someone was about to kill her. The Father wakes Ji-hyo up and tells her that what she sees is not an illusion, the alien she sees is real, and that the chip inside her works like a GPS to the divine light. It’s like a homing device. He then tells her that he doesn’t know where her boyfriend is, and she becomes hostile. Bora blames herself for what happened to Ji-hyo.

Bora and Chanwoo devise a plan to get her out of the psychiatric facility. The Father tells Ji-hyo the story about Younson and how everything began. After being abducted, she wrote down everything that she saw. The two of them then created a book, almost like a gospel of what the aliens or the divine light would say. The gospel and the same symbol on it as well.

Ji-hyo has no recollection of what happened in the field of reeds when she was abducted. She has tried her entire life to block all that out. The Father questions why she came here if she didn’t believe the aliens were real, and he believes that she is using her boyfriend as a cover so she doesn’t sound so insane. He wants her to remember what happened in the field of reeds so they can help the others.

Chanwoo then confronts Seo about how she is running things. The Father is going ahead without Ji-Hyo’s consent in trying to retrieve her memories. When she goes under the VR headset, the simulation is too intense, and they have to pull her out of it. The Father then decides they’re going to take the chip out, which can cause nerve damage to Ji-hyo. She is so out of it that she doesn’t see the alien in the operating room with her. The detective and Seehee try to break into the facility as well. Seehee doesn’t tell the truth to the guards, and they manage to get in based on a lie.

Chanwoo uses Ji-hyo to get more information out of Seo, but she is too distracted by meeting the “Messiah”. Chanwoo then has a flashback to when his daughter said to him that he never does anything, and he doesn’t fight for her. So to honor his daughter, he helps Ji-hyo break free from the psychiatric ward by using her “Holy” title against the missionaries. Seo falls for it and helps them get out of the clinic.

As they get out of there, Chanwoo crashes the car to make it appear that they’ve faked their deaths and then runs into the forest to meet Bora. The therapist then comes back and tries to get her out of her head, and now she is in a trance of her memories. The therapist tries to open her mind and open that one memory of her being abducted, and it’s behind a closed door.

She can tap into the memory with Bora present, and the reason why she always associated her with delinquency is that the night she got abducted was the night she drank alcohol with her. The second she tries to go deeper, she goes into shock, and her body starts moving rapidly like she’s having a seizure. She also mumbles some words that no one can make any sense of.
