This article discusses whether there will be a season 2 of the Netflix series The Midnight Club and its renewed or cancelled status.

The Midnight Club is the latest horror series from horror extraordinaire Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass), who has created this ten-episode Netflix original with writing collaborator Leah Fong (The Haunting of Bly Manor). The series is an adaptation of the 1994 novel of the same name, penned by Christopher Pike, who serves as an executive producer. The show follows eight terminally ill hospice patients as they struggle with their own impending deaths, meeting each night to tell one another ghost stories by the library’s log fire light.

These dying teenagers are joined by a new patient called Ilonka, who starts to explore the premises and uncovers many dark secrets within the building as she searches for a cure to her illness. As you’ve come to expect from Mike Flanagan, The Midnight Club is heart-warming, raw and of course, gruesomely terrifying. It’s really easy to fall for these lovable misfits and by the end, you won’t want to leave. Obviously, fans of the show will be dying to know if there is a second season in store.

Will there be a season 2 of the Netflix series The Midnight Club – renewed or cancelled status

Status: TBC

Netflix hasn’t yet decided whether they are going to renew the series or not, but it is promising news when they’ve chosen not to advertise the show as a miniseries. This means that there is room for a follow-up season, although Mike Flanagan isn’t renowned for returning to his shows for a second outing. The Haunting of Hill House was loosely followed up by The Haunting Of Bly Manor, with the two being linked as an anthology of sorts, but Midnight Mass and next year’s The Fall of the House of Usher are both classed as one-off miniseries.

If we are to draw any conclusions from the finale, The Midnight Club does leave things quite open-ended, which means that there is still lots to be explored in this nineties world. And the very final shot of The Midnight Club is bound to bring about the debate as fans discuss what it could all mean. The showrunners have clearly left things ambiguous, with many subplots unfinished in the hopes of a second season. I would not be surprised if Netflix are to renew this show, but it wouldn’t be so bad either if this is where Mike Flanagan and Leah Fong are to leave the patients and staff of Brightcliffe. As always, we’ll keep you posted on any updates in the pending renewal of The Midnight Club.
