One of Us Is Lying season 2, episode 7 recap – Who Is Simon Says?

The penultimate episode starts with poor Vanessa tied in the trunk of a moving car before finding herself tied and gagged to a chair. Meanwhile, Evan tries to report his missing hook-up/maybe girlfriend to the police but isn’t being taken seriously.

Back in the room where Vanessa is held, we find out who kidnapped her. It wasn’t Simon Says, but her potentially murderous classmates. While Cooper and Addy try to explain they actually kidnapped her for her own safety, Vanessa’s having none of it, and she’s even more sure than ever that the Murder Club members are guilty and trying to kill her. She tells them about the Halloween night photos and mentions the mysterious person in the bear suit, who Vanessa wrongly assumed to be Maeve. However, Maeve wasn’t part of the Halloween party plan, so the question remains: Who was hiding in the bear costume? Could that person be Simon Says?

While Bronwyn, Nate, Addy, and Cooper discuss the implications of the mysterious bear costume, Vanessa manages to untie herself and makes a run for it. It’s revealed that the group took her to Bronwyn’s parents’ unused vacation house, conveniently located on an island. The teens realize they have no other choice but to tell Vanessa the whole truth and hope she won’t turn them in.

Very annoyed to have been left behind yet again, Maeve shows up at Kris’s door and asks for his help in locating her sister and the others. Both Maeve and Kris make their way to the vacation home.

As the teens are trying to figure out what’s been going on with the whole Simon Says thing, everything soon devolves into chaos, and they start yelling at each other. Kris, ever the wise one, sends everyone to bed, even Cooper. The teens make sleeping arrangements. Addy shares the couch with Vanessa, Janae shares a room with a very angry Maeve (who won’t even speak to them), and Bronwyn and Nate sleep together, as do Kris and Cooper.

The next day, Kris hilariously introduces the Talking Tiger to the circle. Only the person holding the stuffed toy can speak. The poor tiger doesn’t last long, but the Murder Club does find out about Jake having been to rehab. As Giselle had the same necklace Jake supposedly brought from Greece, the teens figure that’s where the two met. They also figure out which rehab it is, as their principal previously suggested the same facility to both Addy and Janae’s parents, meaning that whoever Simon Says is, they were probably in the same place as Jake and Giselle. With that, the teens head back on the ferry, ready to find out the truth.

Vanessa, now part of the Murder Club, agrees to go see Cole and ask more questions about Jake’s rehab stay. While there, she runs into Detective Wheeler, who tells her the police found Jake’s car.

The ending

Maeve, Janae, and Bronwyn make their way to the rehab facility to try and find out more, while poor Nate has to go to work. After Nate gets told off by his boss for having missed the previous day’s shift, Fiona gets a text message that reads: “They’re about to figure it out.”

Back at the rehab center, the teens see a framed group photo of former rehab residents, in it, there’s Jake, Giselle, and… Fiona! Brownyn starts frantically calling Nate to warn him that Fiona is Simon Says. He doesn’t see the text in time, so he gets into Fiona’s car with her under the guise of grabbing a delivery.

Who warned Fiona? Where is she taking Nate? Why is this new student so intent on punishing the Murder Club members for Jake’s death?
