Created for television by Erica Saleh, the first season of One of Us Is Lying premiered in October 2021 and its second season dropped on Peacock. However, fans and people involved in the series were shocked to learn that Season 3 was canceled by Peacock

In my positive review of season two, I concluded that “The show also managed to leave enough questions unanswered to warrant a third installment.” In what’s proving to become a yearly tradition, the second installment of One of Us Is Lying left viewers wanting for more with a chilling cliffhanger. But was it enough to ensure we’ll get to see more of the Murder Club’s adventures in 2023?”

One of Us Is Lying Season 3 is Canceled by Peacock

January 27th, 2024 Update

It has been confirmed that One of Us Is Lying has been canceled by Peacock making it highly unlikely that we will see a Season 3 unless another company picks it up. Showrunner, Erica Saleh, expressed her disappointment with the cancelation on X (Formerly Twitter):

Following her post, other fans banded to give her support:

Some fans suggested that the show could be picked up by another streaming service or network:

It’s always possible for a canceled series to pick it up, but we still have no news on this yet. As reported by Digital Spy, the executives at Peacock felt the viewing figures were not impressive enough for a third season. So if another streamer or network picked this up, it would be a big risk.

October 21st, 2022 Update

One of Us Is Lying is based on a 2017 Young Adults mystery novel by Karen M. McManus. The season of the televised adaptation was developed by NBC and premiered on Peacock on the 7th of October 2021 before moving to Netflix. In January 2022, due to the series’s popularity, it was renewed for a second season, which premiered on the 20th of October 2022. Unlike the first season, which was launched over three weeks, the second season premiered all eight episodes at once, which was great news for those of us who like to binge-watch.

At the moment, neither NBC nor Netflix confirmed the show’s renewal for a third act. However, considering that the second installment wasn’t announced until early 2022, there’s a good chance this will be the case with season three. The first episode of season two has a rating of 8.2 on IMDB, and the critical response so far has been mostly positive, yet it’s still too early to tell whether NBC greenlights another season of this mystery-box drama.

The second season of the series did a great job of resolving the mystery of Simon Says but left plenty of questions unanswered. So I would imagine at the very least they’d want to wrap up the story in a way that’s satisfying to the show’s growing fan base. While nothing’s been officially confirmed yet, we’re hoping to hear some good news come January.
