It’s been an emotional ride through the first 9 episodes of Blockbuster, with Timmy (Randall Park) growing into his role, meeting Lena (Stephanie Izsak), and making a success of the store. Eliza (Melissa Fumero), meanwhile, has been coming to terms with the fact that her marriage is coming to an end, and she actually has feelings for Timmy. With the backdrop of a festive event at the store and news reports of a weather storm, the stage is set for a dramatic conclusion to season 1.
Blockbuster season 1, episode 10 recap
The team is planning a special event to bring in extra customers. They have even managed to secure a special guest, Little Stevie, the former child star of a series of family favorite movies. A news report informs them that the Solar Storm is finally on its way. Rumors abound about what it might mean for everyone.
Things between Timmy and Lena seem to be going well but their relationship status remains vague.
Hannah is sat on some hot gossip. Erin plans to re-propose to Eliza at the event later and Hannah wants Tyler to record it for posterity.
Little Stevie has arrived and is anxious when he discovers that the event is sold out. Stevie is visibly nervous about being in the public eye and to settle his nerves takes a swig from his hip flask.
Timmy and Eliza get things going with the event to a huge and expectant crowd. Stevie bursts in, clearly hammered and things go South with him yelling at the customers, making lewd comments at the parents of children, and scaring away the customers.
Carlos gets some bad news, he was rejected from film school. Dejected, he hands off responsibility for filming Erin’s Proposal to Hannah. She sets up the camera and forgets about it.
Things go from bad to worse as the solar storm finally hits. Timmy heads across the road to get a drink with Lena. Lena consoles him and to Timmy’s delight, calls him her boyfriend. Eliza also heads to the bar and finds Lena and Timmy, and is super awkward about it.
Percy is excited to meet Little Stevie in the flesh.
The solar storm has had the super predictable effect of knocking out the internet, suddenly making DVD rentals essential as people are desperate for entertainment. Lena and Timmy are indulging in some PDA much to Eliza’s disgust as the store is packed.
Blockbuster season 1, episode 10 ending
Hannah takes Eliza to the staffroom where her estranged husband is waiting to propose to her, complete with a male voice choir. Timmy walks in and leaves flustered before Eliza can turn down Erin’s proposal. She just can’t forgive him for cheating on him and she tells him that she has feelings for someone else, Timmy. What they don’t know is that Hannah’s camera has been running the whole time.
Timmy heads back to the store and still thinking about Eliza’s proposal accidentally calls Lena by Eliza’s name. Lena leaves upset.
Meanwhile, the customers are getting restless, there are not enough DVDs to go around, Percy and Stevie have a clash and a riot in Blockbuster is inevitable. Surveying the destruction, Timmy is angry and bitter at the way his day has gone. Defeated, he walks out of the store before Eliza can tell him how she feels about him.
Blockbuster season 1, episode 10 ends with Hannah watching back the footage of Eliza telling Erin she has feelings for Timmy.
