Summary

In this episode, Avi and the team delve deeper into the case of the daycare bombing as new information about Elisabeth Serra’s disappearance comes to light.

We recap the Peacock series The Calling season 1, episode 6, “The Pursuers,” which contains spoilers.

In this episode, Detective Avraham ”Avi” Avraham (Jeff Wilbusch) and the team delve deeper into the case of the daycare bombing as new information about Elisabeth Serra’s (Sandy Hernandez) disappearance comes to light. Avi starts suspecting the missing woman of being behind the threats to the daycare.

The Calling season 1, episode 6 recap – why did Avi suspect Elisabeth planted the bomb?

In the first scene, we see Avi rushing to the hospital after an explosion at the daycare. He finds both Janine and Earl severely injured. Luckily, it was all just a nightmare.

At the station, a sleep-deprived Avi tells the Captain he suspects Elisabeth was behind the bomb threat, after finding some unhinged posts she made against Anna Harvey on NextDoor. When Avi and Janine go to Paul’s house to discuss the possibility of his wife being involved, Danny overhears and confirms that his “first dad” told him it was Elisabeth who planted the bomb.

While following Brad Holt, Earl is surprised to see the man driving to and staking out the daycare.

Keen to confirm his suspicions, Avi and Janine both play a recording of Elisabeth’s voice to both Anna and Sarah, but neither woman can confirm she’s the person making the threatening calls. Sarah does, however, confess to Janine that Anna is a terrible employer who sometimes misses payroll.

As they further investigate Elisabeth, Janine uncovers three flight tickets the missing woman had bought for her and her children, which she later canceled. Avi and Janine go to Elisabeth’s place of work, a private members club for the rich and famous, where they learn there were rumors of an affair between her and a member, Peter Hanney. The woman’s boss also reveals she had quit her job months prior, which is odd as it appeared Elisabeth liked her work.

The Sarris’s financial records reveal the family was struggling and recently lost nearly $750k in bad crypto investment. As it turns out, the couple initially made a lot of money after a particularly good investment but lost it all almost instantaneously.

Janine and Avi manage to locate the billionaire Peter Haney who was hiding at his mom’s house. According to Peter, he and Elisabeth were set to run off together before she disappeared, and he claims he hasn’t heard from her in weeks. After hearing what a dedicated mother Elisabeth was, Avi concludes there’s no way she would have run away without her children, meaning he’s sure she’s dead.

When Avi and Janine visit Paul at his place of work, where he’s installing underfloor heating, they tell him about his wife’s affair. He appears rattled to learn she was cheating on him, but claims he had no clue it was happening.

The Calling season 1, episode 6 ending

Earl follows Brad to a warehouse and goes in after him thinking he’s there bomb-making. Instead, he finds the man in a compromising position with none other than Miss Anna Harvey. At the station, Avi, Janine, Earl, and Kathleen wonder if Marcie could have placed the bomb as revenge for her husband’s affair.

The last scene depicts an unknown attacker hitting Miss Harvey on the head and knocking her out.
