Acapulco season 2, episode 6 recap
We are in Hollywood, CA, in 1958, where we see Beatrice attempting to try and impress an agent, but the agent lady isn’t being very kind to her. Later, we see her return to the agency all glammed up and with a new name (Diane) and schedule an appointment. What is the correlation? Present-day Maximo tells us that Diane’s past is about to catch up with her.
Diane announces that for the first time, the resort will host its first-ever Hollywood wrap party. Don Pablo tells Maximo that he will be Diane’s personal assistant at the party. Hector and Memo share an exchange which leads to Hector talking Memo into switching jobs.
The TMZ-like guy confronted Maximo about the upcoming Hollywood party and said he wanted all the dirt surrounding the party. However, he blackmails him with photos of them together, and Maximo agrees to get him the goods. Next, Don Pablo approaches Diane about taking time off for his grandson’s baptism, and she says no. Don Pablo continues to be frustrated with her.
Diane is talking to Maximo about how she has come a long way and watches as everyone’s heads will turn as she sets to enter the party. She makes a grand entrance, and no one pays any attention. Back poolside, Memo meets the movie star, a Dog, and he isn’t thrilled that Hector fooled him.
Chad recognizes someone at the party, and Julia funnily tries to remind him of where he knows them from. Things aren’t going as planned by Diane because people aren’t being as receptive as she thought they would be. Our favorite singing duo by the pool are singing Tiny Bubbles. I seriously look forward to seeing them every week and what songs will be singing.
While Diane is talking up Maximo, he remembers that he needs to be the best personal assistant and needs to get some dirty details for the TMZ guy. So Diane approaches the producer who fired her many moons ago while Maximo heads off to get her a drink and find out what’s happening with a scandalous couple making out. Sadly, the couple that Maximo saw has been married for three years and isn’t a worthy scoop for him.
Diane reinvented herself as she released an exercise tape and shakes that were selling off the shelves. But back to the producer, she is unsure how to respond to the offer, but out of nowhere, she says yes. However, he tells her he has to sell the studio on the idea and that the role isn’t so glamorous. Moments later, Maximo arrives with the champagne, and Diane shoes him off and says to bring it to her office.
Acapulco season 2, episode 6 ending
Maximo asks Don Pablo what you do when choosing between protecting himself and being loyal. Don Pablo, going through a tough time with Diane even though he has been loyal, says that maybe loyalty doesn’t get you as much as it should. However, as he saw Chad exchange with an actress we met earlier, he realized he had the dirt that she was much older than she claimed and had the proof. Which meant he could pass that off as the goods.
We see Diane come downstairs in a different outfit to prove she can be normal to the producer. Don Pablo reveals that the TMZ guy is about to announce to the world the news Maximo gave her, but Diane storms outside and confronts him and says he will not do it on her resort. After coming face to face, Maximo steps in between them.
Back home, Vanessa (Maximo/Sara’s mom) is talking with her boyfriend on the couch. He mentions how things will improve with Sara and Maximo staying out of trouble. Then, however, he turns on the TV, and it is Maximo holding back Diane from getting into a fight. So he quickly shuts the TV off. Diane says the paparazzi guy can do whatever he wants but must leave her guest alone. As Maximo walks off, our TMZ-like guy stops him and says now you owe me big time.
As the episode ends, Diane confronts the producer and tells him she will not play a part in the movie. In her office, Diane informs Maximo that they need to get to the bottom of who leaked the story. Shortly after, Don Pablo walks in and hands Diane a letter, which is his resignation. Don Pablo leaves the resort with pride and finally makes the right choice for himself. As the present-day Maximo puts the finishing touches on the store, we see him reunite with Memo.
