The creator of How to Get Away With Murder teamed up with Prime Video for a new series in Riches. The story follows a rich family whose lives are thrown for a loop when their father dies. The six-episode series highlights how one family fights and claws for their right to the cosmetics empire. Unfortunately, Season 2 is canceled and will not be launched on Prime Video leaving fans furious.

I’ll be honest, I got some serious Succession-like vibes when I watched the trailer for the series. However, while it has some of those similar beats, it does stand out on its own. Writer Abby Ajayi carefully crafts these stories in a compelling way that keeps you wondering who is pulling all the strings, even down to the season’s final moments. I loved thinking I knew what was ahead, only for Ajayi to pull the rug out from underneath me.

Riches is Cancelled by Prime Video

We can confirm that Riches will not be getting a second season Prime Video despite the obvious popularity of the TV show. The creator, Abby Ajayi, confirmed this on Instagram, and even stated that she had so many stories to tell:

I did not watch every single episode and found myself engulfed in the whirlwind life of the Richard’s family, only to get an ending that leaves the door open for so many other things for it to stop after one season. We have plenty of storylines that need attention. First, you have the story of Gideon confronting Claudia. Then, What did Sasha’s boyfriend do for her to get confronted by the random guy at the club? Last, the last piece of the puzzle was finding out there is another Richards, and it’s MAUREEN’s! How are we supposed to sleep at night knowing all of this?

What did you think of the cancelation of Riches? There are a lot of comments of frustration and anger, so add your opinion below!
