Summary

We had a ton of moving pieces this week but Pauline Chalamet led a strong episode that had some profound meaning to it.

We have hit the penultimate episodes before the big season finale of season 2 of The Sex Lives of College Girls – some high-stakes things have happened throughout the season, but what kind of madness can ensue leading up to the finale in Episode 7? Let’s dive in.

The Sex Lives of College Girls season 2, episode 7 recap

The episode begins with Whitney in her bedroom, overhearing Kimberly and Jackson having loud sex next door. She heads into the living room, where Bela and Leighton are not thrilled about Kimberly’s loud sex, and all leave before they lose their minds. Next, the Essex food services are heading on a strike because they haven’t gotten a raise since 1988. Canaan and Kimberly say they are both in to join the protest.

Next, Kimberly announces to her dormmates that they must join her in the strike and not eat at any campus place. However, Leighton questions when they all agree to join her on strike. Before it goes any further, Bela announces that she cheated on Eric. They advise her about the situation by saying she should probably tell him, but Bela thinks she might take this one to her grave.

The ladies are walking to class, and Leighton asks the group how short of a time she can go to the protest without being a bad friend. Whitney says she can’t go because she has some stuff to work on for Science class. Then Tatum arrives, putting a massive smile on Leighton’s face, and Tatum asks her to dinner, but Leighton says no, but they can get some coffee. As she walked away, Whitney and Lila confronted her about lying. Leighton says that Tatum might be cooler than her, to which they both agree.

The protest isn’t going as planned because these rich kids don’t care. Jackson showed up and was happy over Kimberly protesting, but kissed her and walked inside, leaving her befuddled. In the middle of their pitch meeting, Eric shows up to confront Bela about whether she cheated on him with Dan or not. Apparently, Dan was bragging about it to his team of writers. Of course, Bela denies doing it and plays off offended he would assume it was her. However, Dan went into detail with his writers, and Bela tries to explain, but Eric ends their relationship.

Kimberly attempts to talk to Whitney’s mom (Senator) about the protest and asks her to come to speak at the protest. After a little convincing, she agrees to go because she is due for a visit to Whitney. Next, Leighton and Tatum meet for that coffee, and it’s about as awkward as it can get. In the middle of trying to sound cool, Leighton brings up that she has many things going on, including a huge party, which Tatum then asks if she can come, putting Leighton on her toes. Of course, Leighton says yes, but now she will have to figure this all out.

Leighton arrives at the dorm to explain that she needs to come up with a party and fast. However, Lila shows up to confront Kimberly about what is going on with this protest. Kimberly tries to talk to her about it, but Lila explains she could get fired if she joined them. In science class, Andrew calls out Whitney for typing too loud, and then the Senator shows up to see her daughter. A funny exchange where Andrew kisses up to the Senator, leading to a smart-ass comment by Whitney, was classic. Finally, the Senator tells her daughter that she got her an internship at the NIH this summer. Whitney tells her mother that she appreciates it but wants to do things independently.

The President doesn’t impress the Senator and further puts her in the mood to protest. Then, Leighton asks Jocelyn about any underground parties she can take Tatum to. She tells her about a party at the art gallery, and Leighton says that’s perfect. Next, Bela shows up at Eric’s dorm, where she is met by his parents, who don’t want to hear anything from her about the cheating. They shut her down and closed the door in her face.

The Senator is set to make a speech so that Kimberly can post it to bring more awareness to the protest. She mentions that Kimberly reminds her of a young her. Moments later, Jackson arrives, and Kimberly confronts him about ordering food at school, which he said he didn’t know he was protesting it too, but he supports her and throws away the food. Next, we move to the party Leighton took Tatum to, which ends up being a disaster because the person throwing it knew Tatum.

At the big rally, we find out that the video by the Senator is going viral for all the wrong reasons, as she quoted a slave owner. So the Senator freaks out on Kimberly, but instead of leaving, Kimberly talks her into making a statement right now. She delivered the speech and knocked it out of the ballpark. Shortly after, a strong bonding moment between Whitney and her mother highlighted that she got the President to agree to the demands. More importantly, they bond over her, trying to do her own thing throughout the process.

We move to Bela, who has waited outside Eric’s place and confronts him. Eric snaps at her, saying that this isn’t about her. He takes his phone out and deletes her number from his phone. Then, Tatum confronts Leighton about lying, and she is honest about the whole thing. Then, Tatum tells her she already likes her and plants a big kiss on her. Next, as the episode closes, Andrew and Whitney have a moment about the day leading to them kissing.
