What’s the age rating for Netflix’s The Recruit? We discuss the series and the reasons behind its age rating.

The Recruit is an exciting adventure thriller from Netflix that stars Noah Centineo as Owen Hendricks. a young up-and-coming lawyer at the CIA that becomes involved in the dangerous world of international espionage.

The show was created by Alexi Hawley, no stranger to this kind of show with Castle and The Rookie in his portfolio, and has eight episodes in its first season. Trivia fans might be interested in the episode titles, which are just initials. However, the initials represent codes that are actually acronyms for projects and divisions that Owen must learn and understand.

What is 2022’s The Recruit about?

Noah Centineo plays a young lawyer Owen Hendricks, who is currently working with the CIA. However, he is only in the first week of his job when he comes across a letter from a previous asset, Max Meladze.

The note reveals her plan to drag the agency through the dirt unless they exonerate her from a previous crime. Owen becomes embroiled in the complexities of the situation and finds himself trapped in the machinations of the players involved as he tries to get to the bottom of the situation.

We follow his journey through a set of situations that are as infuriating as they are dangerous. Fast-paced, exciting, and often funny, this is a clever and intriguing show that is confident in telling the story it presents. Two of the episodes were directed by Doug Liman, who was at the wheel of The Bourne Identity, so it is safe to say that this TV series is making sure there is some top talent on board for the show.

What’s the age rating for Netflix’s The Recruit?

The rating for The Recruit is TV-MA. Basically, this means that the show is really aimed at mature audiences. The guide usually infers that the show is not suitable for under 17-year-olds.

The reason for the age rating for The Recruit may be due to the violence and scenes of a sexual nature that the series contains. There is plenty of action and some violent content, but so far, we haven’t seen any gratuitous nudity, so there is no content warning before the show starts. The bad language is also pretty mild, and a lot of the more serious events are interspersed with some humor.

Is Netflix’s The Recruit okay for kids?

With the TV-MA rating, we would say it is unsuitable for younger kids.

There are scenes of violence and some scenes of sexual activity, but they are not gratuitous. The premise and tone of the show mean that a younger audience may not enjoy the series that much anyway, as it is pretty much a more grounded story that does not veer too dramatically into more “comic book” aspects of the spy genre.

If it helps, there is probably not much more on show here than you would see in a modern James Bond movie, and those pretty much come in at around the PG-13 rating.
