Based on Kousuke Oono’s manga series, The Way of the Househusband is a Netflix anime with an amusingly off-kilter premise and a visual style that looks like a moving manga. The first season was a great success with both critics and audiences, even if the animation style took some getting used to, and a second season was announced at the Netflix Tudum Japan event on September 25, 2022. That season debuted on January 1, 2023, with five new episodes, each running around 17 minutes and comprising several mini-arcs.

This, if you’re unfamiliar, is the hook. Tatsu is a notorious former gangster nicknamed “The Immortal Dragon” who has given up a life of crime for house husbandry, but he treats everything from cooking and cleaning to haiku and camping with the same no-nonsense, uber-masculine intensity. You’d think that basically one joke repeated across many – the fifth episode reaches the ninetieth vignette – segments would wear thin, and yet somehow, The Way of the Househusband is as funny when it ends as it was when it began.
With little in the way of marketing and clarity around the show and its release strategy, many fans are wondering if they will get to see more of Tatsu’s house husbandry adventures any time soon. Here’s everything we know.
Will there be more episodes of The Way of the Househusband Season 2?
While there doesn’t seem to be any official confirmation of more episodes on the way, the second season does seem to be following the same release cadence as the first.
The Way of the Househusband debuted on April 8, 2021, with five episodes. Six months later, on October 7, 2021, the season received another five episodes, bringing the total season order to ten.
Since The Way of the Househusband Season 2 also debuted with five episodes, it stands to reason that we’re likely to get another five-episode batch down the line. This remains speculative, but judging by the above, you can expect to get another five episodes of The Way of the Househusband Season 2 somewhere around July, 2023.
Will there be a Season 3 of The Way of the Househusband?
We might be getting ahead of ourselves here, but given the show’s success thus far, it makes sense to speculate about its future beyond the second season.
The manga the show is based on is very popular and has been collected into ten tank?bon volumes by Shinchosha. In North America, Viz Media are also publishing an English-language translation of the series. The eleventh volume of the original manga is slated for release on January 7, 2023, while the ninth volume of the translated series is slated for release on February 21, 2023.
The abundance of source material and the continued global popularity of the IP means that Netflix will be keeping a very close eye on the success of this series. If the second season performs as expected, which is to say pretty well, then there’s a very good chance that we might see The Way of the Househusband Season 3 in 2024.
