Your Place or Mine is a fun rom-com with a lot of heart. Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher have good chemistry, and it’s because they are really good friends. Their friendship shines through the characters they play and that’s why they were perfectly cast for this. It’s hard to admit you have feelings for someone, but to go on one date and then decide that you’re better off as friends is even harder. Debbie (Witherspoon) and Peter (Kutcher) ended up drifting apart and living on opposite coasts. They tried to stay in touch, but once Debbie got married, Peter had to put his feelings to rest.
Debbie (who is newly divorced) has to start her life again as a single mom. Her friends force her to date because it’s healthy for her, and this is where Peter comes into play. Sure, they’re still friends and he would help her out in any way possible, but it’s just friendship. Peter helps Debbie with her son Jack (Wesley Kimmel) and becomes this new paternal figure in his life without meaning when they decide to swap apartments. You never know what you can find out about the person you think you know for twenty years, but Peter and Debbie uncover some secrets.

Like any good romantic comedy, Peter and Debbie express their feelings for each other at the airport and end up getting together. It’s hard to not have a connection with someone romantically if you’ve known them for twenty years and that one date meant more than it should have. Anything can happen in a lifetime and relationships are meant to change, what matters is how you grow with the relationship.
Your Place or Mine sequel potential release date
There is no plan for a sequel to Your Place or Mine as of yet. The way the rom-com ended is obviously left open because Peter and Debbie are officially together. It’s a possibility in the future that they could make another one, but it’s not in the cards at the moment.

Your Place or Mine sequel plot: what could Your Place or Mine 2 be about?
Since Debbie and Peter are together again, they could have a discussion about where they’d want to live. That’s how the sequel could begin and one of them would have to cave. On top of that, they could go on a book tour with Peter since he did have his book published to see where the journey would take him.
While that’s happening they could be separated again because Jack’s hockey career could really take off and he could go to tournaments. They could face similar obstacles as the first film but this time they’re actually in a relationship and they can experience the pressures of being in one. It’s an entirely different dynamic when you’re officially with someone and have to make difficult decisions.
