We discuss 10 Animated TV Shows like Animaniacs. Add these well-recommended animated series to your watch list.

The third and final season of Hulu’s Animaniacs reboot dropped on the streaming platform last week. Since its premiere, the animated series chronicling the misadventures of the Warner sibling, along with skits featuring the beloved lab mice, Pinky and the Brain, the show received critical acclaim and several Daytime Emmy awards.

Providing the perfect hint of nostalgia and contemporary satire, the show’s appeal extended to kids, teens, and their parents. Unfortunately, it seems Wakko, Yakko, and Dot have returned to their WB water tower for good (or until the next revival). However, plenty more cartoons are out there if you’re looking for a bit of lighthearted escapism. While some of the series on this list are family-friendly, others cater to a more mature audience.

10 Animated TV Shows like Animaniacs you must watch

Animaniacs (1993 – 1998)

It would be difficult not to include the original iteration of the Animaniacs on our list. The series ran for five years back in the 90s, and you can stream all 99 episodes on Apple TV+.

Pinky and the Brain (1995 – 1998)

First introduced in the original Animaniacs series, Pinky and the Brain follows two lab mice and their failed attempts at taking over the world. Brain is a highly intelligent megalomaniac, while Pinky is his kindhearted and dimwitted partner.

Courage The Cowardly Dog (1999 – 2002)

This is a funny horror animated show about a dog living in the middle of nowhere with his two elderly owners. Adopting a monster-of-the-week format, each episode centers on a different threat (ranging from aliens to zombies) and Courage’s attempts to protect his two people.

The Snoopy Show (2021 – )

An Apple TV+ original, The Snoopy Show is yet another revival of much-beloved animation. The family-friendly series follows the adventures of the titular beagle, his human, Woodstock, and all the other members of the Peanut gang.

Looney Tunes Cartoons (2020 – )

Like Animaniacs, Looney Tunes Cartoons is also a reboot of a popular animated franchise. The slapstick comedy series brings back well-known characters, some having been around since the 1940s, like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig, and Tweety, the canary.

Harley Quinn (2019 – )

This series follows the titular character as she’s trying to make her way in Gotham. After dating the Joker for far too long, Harley is now single and ready to, well… mingle and, more importantly, figure out who she is as an individual.

Cow and Chicken (1997 – 1999)

The titular heroes are a pair of anthropomorphic siblings; one’s a sweet-natured cow, while the other is a cynical chicken. Their parents? Two pairs of legs with no torsos in sight. The two even have a nemesis in the form of the Red Guy, a very striking and devilish figure.

Tiny Toon Adventures (1990 – 1995)

Like Animaniacs, this animated series was also produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television. Both shows share similar themes, humor, and format. The characters are younger and cuter versions of Looney Tunes classic cartoons like Bugs Bunny and the grumpy Daffy Duck.

Rick and Morty (2013– )

Among the adult cartoons on this list, Rick and Morty follow the adventures of an alcoholic mad scientist and his favorite but less clever grandchild. Their adventures include absurd intergalactic battles, ventures into alternate universes, and some highly relatable family drama.

Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020 – )

If you’ve ever wanted to see how the lower-ranked crew members in the Star Trek franchise live, this is the show for you. The series centers around the crew of the Cerritos as they manage their on-ship duties and their personal lives. Like Rick and Morty, this series features themes and humor catering to an adult audience.
