School Spirits Season 1 Episode 2 Recap
The episode picks up right where we left off, with Maddie saying “thank you” to Simon, and he hears her. She freaks out, as does Charley because this has never happened before. Then, we see Nicole enter the room and couldn’t see Maddie, but grabbed him to head to start the search party. Funnily enough, Maddie tries to join them but is again reminded she can’t leave the school.
At home, Xavier’s dad tells him he can’t go to school until they figure out what is happening with the case. Unfortunately, the results from the blood tests came back from the blood they found at the school, and it was Maddie’s. Next, we move to the inner circle of dead kids discussing things. Amid the chaos, Maddie asks if anyone has spoken to the living. However, Mr. Martin spins it and asks her to write her obituary.

Rhonda and Maddie are in the teacher’s lunchroom, where she discovers the blood is hers. Rhonda explains that she will be a footnote by next week because that happened to her after the guidance counselor killed her. Maddie explains that it won’t happen to her because Simon won’t let it. Then, we see Claire blowing up Xavier’s phone, but he refuses to answer her texts.
During lunch, Maddie hunts down Simon to talk to him. He drops what he is doing to talk to her. Everyone starts to look at him funny cause he is talking to himself. After making him pick up his phone, she explains that her DNA is in the boiler room and that her ex-boyfriend might’ve had something to do with it. Next, Maddie sparks her memory, where she flashes back to her in the boiler room, bleeding on the floor.
When did Maddie go missing?
As Maddie starts putting the pieces of those final moments of being alive together, we discover in a conversation with Simon that Maddie went missing between the time she left study hall and the eighth period. It opens the door for them to explore more into her disappearance and possibly narrow down the list of who did it.
Claire arrives at Xavier’s house to confront him on why he hasn’t answered her text messages. Shortly after arriving, she tries to comfort him, but he pulls away, causing her to want to leave and go back to school.
Back to Simon, who is searching anywhere and everywhere in an attempt to find some clues. Finally, Xavier’s dad comes home to start questioning what he did. His father leaves, and he decides to punch the walls over and over again. After this, we find out the cops arrived at the school, and the phone Xavier had wasn’t Maddie’s.
What piece of evidence does Simon give Mr. Anderson?
Maddie hunts down Simon, who leaves class to talk to her about what she overheard the cops say. Upon talking about the phone, Mr. Anderson appears and tells Simon he isn’t giving up on Maddie. As this happens, Maddie tells Simon to give Mr. Anderson the evidence they found, and he hesitates. After a brief exchange, Maddie convinces him to do it, and this is when he finds out the evidence is a piece of Maddie’s phone.
Later, during Mr. Anderson’s class, a cop interrupts, and they search the school with dogs. After they let the dog in, he acts suspiciously, but the dog smelled something. Mr. Anderson stops the cop from showing that it could’ve been Maddie’s last paper. Next, at the swimming pool, a student hits their head, knocking themselves out, but Claire jumps in to save her and gives her mouth-to-mouth, bringing her back to life. All this happens while Maddie looks on.
School Spirits Season 1 Episode 2 Ending Explained
Simon and Maddie discuss who they think attacked her. Maddie is convinced that Claire didn’t have anything to do with it, but Simon is still harping on the idea that Xavier is involved somehow, someway. Later that evening, Maddie continues questioning Simon why he thinks Xavier is the bad guy. Mr. Anderson spooks Simon out of nowhere and wonders why he is late to school. The episode ends with him telling Simon that maybe he should let the cops do their job as they will find out what happened to Maddie.
