“Music” continues Dear Edward’s standard structure, with multiple characters and storylines moving forward steadily. Edward (Colin O’Brien) is struggling to keep friendships and is losing his love of the piano. Adriana (Anna Uzele) must decide between work and pleasure, Dee Dee (Connie Britton) starts to accept her financial woes, Sam’s (Dario Ladani Sanchez) secrets come tumbling out, and Lacey starts to crack. It’s another eventful installment, although many of the subplots seem obvious or forced together this time around. Here’s what happened in Dear Edward Season 1 Episode 8:
- Edward is shunned by Shay. He goes to the music room, has a panic attack, and runs away from school. Lacey confronts Edward about the truancy, and they get into an argument. Edward wants his piano fixed.
- Adriana is hounded by the press about her controversial speech and her grandmother’s nepotism. She meets with Eric, who holds her hand. The paparazzi snap this incident, and it goes viral. Kojo sees the photo online.
- Sam flirts with Vernon, and they send revealing photos to each other. Sam’s wife finds the text messages and the photos.
- Dee Dee puts her house on the market. She asks Steve to help her tell Zoe about their financial problems. Steve is forced to reveal all of Zoe’s dad’s darkest secrets. Zoe and Dee Dee argue.
- Amanda offers to fix Edward’s piano. Afterward, John turns up and speaks with Lacey. He is after his paddle board. Lacey is hurt by John and tells him she threw it out. Later she finds the board and uses it herself.
- Mahira tells Edward they cannot meet anymore and for him to stop texting her.
- Dee Dee receives an offer on the house and agrees to sell it.
- Edward builds Shay a mini golf, putting green to win her back. She thanks him for it but tells Edward he cannot sleep over anymore. She has started her period. They cannot hang out anymore, either. Angered, Edward pushes the school piano down a flight of stairs.
Dear Edward Season 1 Episode 9 Release Date and Time
Episode 9 will be released on Apple TV+ on Friday, March 17th, 2023. The release time is midnight PT. Episode 9 is titled “Paper Covers Rock” and will have a run time of 50 minutes.

Predictions
- Adriana will win the vote and become the congresswoman. Kojo will congratulate her and head back to Ghana with Becks. It will be an emotional goodbye.
- Edward will try to win Shay back with more embarrassing and large-scale gestures. Shay will continue to reject Edward. He will become more inward and skip school more frequently.
- Edward will be punished for destroying the school piano and possibly taken out of school entirely. He needs therapy and a more personal touch, which public schooling cannot provide.
- Dee Dee has finally started taking her financial woes seriously; she will sell the LA condo and move into a smaller apartment next. Zoe will go on her trip regardless of their money problems; she must escape.
- Sam’s wife will confront Sam about the photographs; his world will start falling apart now.
