Unseen Season 1 Episode 6 Recap and Ending Explained

This article contains major spoilers for Unseen Season 1’s ending, especially the events in Unseen Season 1 Episode 6.

Unseen, a remake of the Turkish series Fatma, both available to stream on Netflix, is about a humble cleaning lady named Zenzi who accidentally goes on a killing spree and realizes she kind of likes it.

There’s a bit more to the story than that, obviously. Zenzi was left financially adrift when her husband, Maxwell, went to prison for a crime he didn’t commit, taking the fall for a killing committed by a local gang he was associated with. Their son has been tragically killed. On the day of Max’s supposed release, he goes missing, and Zenzi begins a hunt for him – and the truth about several other things – that results in a much bigger body count than expected.

Unseen Season 1 Ending Explained

Zenzi’s first victim is Jackson Thom, a former associate of her husband. She shoots him with a gun taken from the safe of Raymond Hendricks, another gangster whose business she makes a meager living cleaning.

Jackson’s death is blamed on Raymond, and their mutual boss, Blessing, is pretty mad about it. Raymond catches Zenzi returning the gun and puts two and two together. He decides to use her to perform another assassination since she can remain “unseen”, being a humble cleaner. When one of his goons tries to pitch this idea to Zenzi at the train station, though, he gets a little too forward and she pushes him under an oncoming train.

Raymond is not to be deterred, though, and asks Zenzi to kill Blessing by giving him a couple of lines of poisoned cocaine. While she deliberates, Zenzi also kills her lecherous landlord by pushing off of a partially-constructed building, where he attempted to rape her.

Eventually, Zenzi agrees to kill Blessing, and this is the first murder she seems to quite enjoy. When the narcotic seems to be working too slowly, she covers his nose and mouth and watches him expire.

Why was Elusu killed?

Of particular importance to Zenzi is the reason behind the killing of her son, Elusu. When Raymond tasks his second in command, Joseph, with taking Zenzi out of town, killing her, and recovering the gun she used to kill Jackson, which is a crucial piece of evidence, he offers to share the information in exchange for the firearm. He ends up dead in a subsequent scuffle, though.

But we get the truth eventually. You see, Blessing had a fellow gangster named Yazid killed. Yazid had evidence of a bank scam that he was planning to use for the purposes of blackmail. Max was compelled to take the fall for Blessing on the proviso that his family, Zenzi and Elusu, were well taken care of.

When Max discovered that Blessing wasn’t holding up his end of the deal, he threatened to expose the plot. Blessing sent some goons to his house with the intention of scaring Zenzi, but Elusu was shot in the process – by Raymond.

Is Max alive?

After being released from prison Max fled to Caledon, where he hoped to acquire the evidence that Yazid had. He wants to expose the entire conspiracy. However, shortly after acquiring the data, he’s shot dead by police.

Does Zenzi survive?

Eventually, Zenzi is taken into custody by the police, and she almost confesses out of guilt and having already lost all of her loved ones. However, since the crime syndicate is worried about what she might reveal, some corrupt cops try to execute her.

Zenzi is able to escape – further adding to her body count – and, knowing that Raymond killed her son, she goes to confront him at the club. He’s in the midst of being tortured by Theron, Blessing’s lawyer associate, who believes Raymond killed all the gangsters since he can’t buy into the idea that it was just a humble cleaning lady.

Zenzi eventually kills Raymond, leaving him to burn in the club. However, at that point, she’s had quite enough. She goes to the roof of the building and steps off. We don’t see her die but the implication is pretty clear.
