Not every adaptation of a graphic novel is a CGI superhero fight fest. Some titles subvert the norm and find an audience, and there’s not a cosmic entity trying to destroy the universe.
One example is Heartstopper, an ongoing graphic novel and webcomic series written and illustrated by British author Alice Oseman. The series is a fleshed-out version of Oseman’s 2015 novella.
Nick and Charlie are the main protagonists that originally appeared in Oseman’s 2014 novel Solitaire and is a young adult story that tells the story of two high school students who meet and fall in love.

Heartstopper Season 2 will be released in 2023, and that’s as far as we know at the time of writing. The series started production in September 2022 and wrapped in December 2022, so it could arrive soon.

We will assume that the show will once again stay relatively faithful to the source material, so that should mean we continue following our two leads as they try hard to find their feet in a modern world.
That could include the development of Charlie’s mental health problems and focus on the character’s eating disorder. There may also be a look at the school and the way the main protagonists have to deal with their peer group. It also looks like a new character in the form of Nick’s older brother will be introduced, creating tension as he does not understand or accept his sibling’s bi-sexuality.
Side characters may also be in the spotlight, so expect more about Tao and Elle in season 2, along with the relationship between Tara and Darcy.
