Where is Lorraine Garcia Now? We discuss what happened to Lorraine Garcia from the Netflix true crime series Missing: Dead or Alive.

True crime shows continue to fill the schedules on streaming platforms. Relatively cheap to make and with no shortage of content, these types of shows are raising the bar by finding new formats to present but staying true to the subject matter.

Missing: Dead or Alive? from Netflix is a four-episode limited series that has taken the format and tweaked it, again, to provide viewers with a more immersive experience.

The missing people are investigated by a team of devoted officers, who care about their roles, and the viewer is very much incorporated into the narrative. There has been some speculation about the exact production details, some have found it contrived and almost scripted, but the jury is still out on that one.

This article will examine the mystery of one such case and answer the question where is Lorraine Garcia Now?

What happened to Lorraine Garcia?

Lorraine had disappeared. In the first episode of the Netflix true crime series, we meet the show’s cast, including the investigating officers, and the story of a missing older adult woman and her ex-military son that they worry may have had something to do with her disappearance.

Investigator Vicky Raines, fresh on the scene after working in the major crimes unit, is on the case and fears the worse for the missing 61-year-old Lorraine Garcia. Lorraine has been complaining to neighbors about the violent conduct of her ex-military son.

Her son Anthony has PTSD after his military service but insists he was not involved in his mother’s disappearance. The smell of bleach and tools in the house is a red flag, and Anthony has tried to sell his mother’s house illegally.

There are more strange incidents at the house, with the team finding holes in the walls and string tied around the door knobs.

Finally, Anthony is questioned and reveals that Lorraine has been admitted to the hospital for not taking her meds. Lorraine would check herself out of the hospital shortly after this.

Anthony is arrested for fraudulently trying to sell the house,  and the team can now uncover what happened to Lorraine.

Was Lorraine Garcia Found, or is she still Missing?

Lorraine Garcia was found alive. The bank that Lorraine used called the police, letting them know that she phoned them looking for her bank details (as she is moving to a new home). The police tracked the number the bank gave, and when they arrived in the area, they thankfully found Lorraine alive and well.

Lorraine wanted to escape her old life and volatile son and start again. The team cannot believe that Lorraine is alive. They are stunned by this revelation.

Where is Lorraine Garcia Now?

In the series, Lorraine says, “I’ve been trying to start over, just so I can have peace… in my mind and my heart,” she goes on to say, “I don’t want to go back… I have to start taking care of me. My son, he did things to me he has never done. I don’t deserve that.” The downtrodden lady then states she doesn’t want anyone to know where she is or have any charges pressed against Anthony.

Is Lorraine Garcia Dead or Alive?

At the time of writing in 2023, Lorraine Garcia is alive and hopefully living a stress-free life without worrying about her son.

I absolutely love true crime shows. It’s usually extremely heartbreaking but it is also an essential and informative with society these day’s with shedding more light on the severity of the global mental health crisis as well as drug epidemic. With that being said, I was shocked that Lorraine was found alive. Truly melted my heart. These ladies do their jobs and do them well. I couldn’t do it. I am too emotionally sensitive. Every case would consume me and eat me alive. Especially one’s with a horrific outcome.

I would like to know… Even with the little percentage of information given in this show (I’m sure there’s a LOT more) WHY didn’t the state move forward with another investigation/charges for the abuse of Lorraine regardless of whether she wanted to but also Jane/John Doe? The amount of direct evidence including the admittance from the Facebook marketplace chat clearly shows, at the very least, there was a recent death in that house.

They had no proof of her abuse no statements, no hospital records, no witness statements or no pictures/video

I’m watching the series right. The first episode is to where the investigators are in Tony’s storage unit, searching if there is any evidence. Thus far, the series is 100% superb! As I’m watching this, I don’t feel that I’m watching actors. Instead, the audience is able to follow along with the investigators and hope that Lorain is still alive.

Proof of the abuse? There are different kinds of abuse, just because she isn’t walking around with black eyes and didn’t want to press charges doesn’t mean she wasn’t abused. I believe her for a variety of reasons but first and foremost she told everyone who would listen well before she ran away. His friend witnessed it and said he was concerned. He tried to make her out to be crazy when she said all kinds of people were in and out of her house but he kept showing up with different people, tried to steal her house, trashed the place and threw all her stuff away. She wasn’t the one burning cell phones in a barrel in the backyard. The dude is seriously messed up and that should be obvious to anyone with eyes. I’m glad she got away from him before he seriously hurt her.

I’m so happy she was ok. Her son obviously was horrible to her, and I’m proud of her for loving herself enough to get out of a bad situation. Takes a very strong woman to do that. I hope her son Anthony gets the help he needs.

I do NOT understand why they did NOT make the house a CRIME SCENE immediately !!! Everything that seems to indicate an elderly person lived there is thrown out front & they think OK…we will just leave it here??? Why not take all that stuff, the room smelled of bleach, it was appearing as if she was killed but no..they leave everything & come back the next day?? Geez, like WTH..I mean I am thrilled that this woman got away from the son (and PS..even if she didn’t want to press charges, he still committed wire fraud, he should be in PRISON, YES??)
They really do shoddy work, why didn’t they find out her cell carrier & get the pictures on that Cell Phone..Anthony burned it for a reason..WHY???
They should have warned the New Girlfriend that the guy is a loose Cannon.

I don’t know what the producers of that Netflix show “Missing: Dead or Alive” were thinking in the way they framed that first episode. They made it seem like the ENTIRE time that the guy was guilty of killing and then fleecing his mother, only to end the episode with just evidence that she is alive and elsewhere. Notice — they didn’t FOLLOW UP ON IT. They just showed it at the end, right after they had the guy arrested, charged, and tried to force him to confess to something he didn’t do.

I read some follow up information, and sure enough, she is alive and doesn’t want to be found. She doesnt want to press charges on her son for any of her property. She doesn’t want anyone to know where she is. But the Netflix show, despite being developed and edited after all this was discovered, only mention some small part at the end.

So they risked making this guy look guilty of murder, and even left it with a fake cliffhanger which makes it seem like he might still be, despite the fact that he isn’t in fact guilty of anything.

Honestly, the police department in this case was made to look like a bunch of overdramatic fools who did very little to find this woman before doing everything they could do mess with this guy. And it seems like Netflix felt both the police department AND man who is now known to be innocent were expendable.

What a shameful way to treat people, on all sides.
