10 Movies like Don’t Breathe
A Quiet Place (2018)
John Krasinski’s sophomore film delivered on all fronts and needed to be watched on the big screen. The sound design is the most impressive aspect of this film because the monster is blind but can hear every sound.
There is also a deaf representation in this film that directly coincides with the storyline and works extremely well. This family struggles for survival in a world where most humans have been killed by these creatures. They must communicate in sign language to keep the creatures at bay.
Hush (2016)
Writer-director Mike Flannigan created a situational horror with his wife, Kate Siegel, and it is a film that will get inside your head. A deaf and mute writer who retreated into the woods to live a solitary life must fight for her life in silence when a masked killer appears at her window.
This worked so well because of the exciting tactics she had to use living in a home filled with large windows.
Panic Room (2002)
From director David Fincher comes a crime thriller that will make you claustrophobic. Jodie Foster and a young Kristen Stewart star as mother and daughter who take refuge in their newly-purchased house’s safe room.

The Strangers (2008)
This is one of the most underrated horror films because situational thrillers can be a hit or a miss. Most people are afraid of anyone they don’t know walking close to them or getting in their car, but what if they walked into your home unannounced?
The group of strangers hold this couple captive and torment them.
Green Room (2015)
This is the darkest film on this list because it holds no bar. It is rated R, an hour and thirty-five minutes of pure torturous moments. Writer-director Jeremy Saulnier creates an atmosphere. it was so haunting for a punk rock band that you can’t stop watching.

P2 (2007)
Some can consider P2 to be a Holiday movie because it takes place in a parking garage on Christmas Eve, but it’s definitely not a joyful movie at all. A businesswoman (Rachel Nichols) is pursued by a psychopath after being locked in a parking garage.
Another fear is being alone in a parking garage at night, and director Franck Khalfoun plays off those ideas.
It Comes At Night (2017)
Trey Edward Shults is a unique filmmaker that had captured the audience with this indie horror. A man who is secure in his desolate home sees that an unnatural threat terrorizes the world. He has a strained relationship with his wife and son while the world is falling apart.
Then a desperate young family arrives seeking refuge. He ends up helping them but doesn’t realize the mistake he made and understands that his family means more to him.
You’re Next (2011)
When the family comes under attack during their wedding anniversary getaway, the gang of mysterious killers soon learns that one of the victims harbors a secret talent for fighting back. Director Adam Wingard makes this undertaking brutal, and this family is tormented by an unwelcome guest.
