10 Movies like The Hangover you must watch

We discuss 10 Movies like The Hangover you must watch. Add these well-recommended and highly-rated films to your watch list.

In 2009, The Hangover became one of the biggest box office hits, and no one would have ever expected it. No one knew who Zach Galifianakis was. People may have known Ed Helms from The Office and Bradley Cooper had supporting roles before landing this movie.

Director Todd Phillips and co-writers Jon Lucas and Scott Moore took the one line “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” and made their three bachelors completely forget the night they had with the groom.

Usually, amnesia storylines can be a hit or a miss (mainly a miss because of the repetitiveness), but every piece of information that was uncovered was even worse than the last.

Galifianakis, Cooper, and Helms had incredible chemistry, and their comedic timing was perfection. To this day, there are lines quoted from this movie, and that’s the sign of an instant classic in the comedy genre.

The films on this list all have comedic solid actors at the forefront, and the films were perfectly cast to make all of these memorable over the past decade. There is plenty of partying and many laughs because of the absurd situations these characters end up in.

The best aspect of all of these films is that you can bring your friends together and have a good time watching them.

10 Movies like The Hangover

Bridesmaids (2011)

Right after The Hangover, the ladies of SNL decided to make a similar version. Director Paul Feig brings Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, and Melissa McCarthy together to make one of the best female-led comedies of the 2010s.

There is a competition between the maid of honor and a bridesmaid over who is the bride’s best friend. It’s hard to watch your childhood friend get closer to someone else, and jealousy can be misconstrued.

We’re the Millers (2013)

When an unlikely group comes together, you know it will be a fun time. Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Will Poulter, and Emma Roberts come from different paths and meet in one apartment complex.

A veteran pot dealer creates a fake family as part of his plan to move a huge shipment of weed into the U.S. from Mexico. In order to cross the border, they have to make it believable that they are close, which makes the ploy even funnier.

Superbad (2007)

Back when Michael Cera and Jonah Hill were starting, Superbad made them household names. Movies that are based on high school with getting your crush to date you and go to a house party are always wild.

But Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg wrote a fun story about two co-dependent high school seniors who are forced to deal with separation anxiety after their plan to stage a booze-soaked party goes awry.

Horrible Bosses (2011)

Who would have thought that the trio of Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis would be such a strong trio? Similar to the chemistry between Galifianakis, Helms, and Cooper in The Hangover, the three of them made one of the most underappreciated comedies of the 2010s.

The three of them were hilarious, and the bosses they wanted to kill for each other just added to the craziness. Colin Farrell, Kevin Spacey, and Jennifer Aniston all showed a different side of themselves in this. Everyone can relate to having a boss who is a nightmare, and that’s why the excessive lengths they go to are hilarious.

Bad Moms (2016)

People forget how hard it is to be a mom, so sometimes they deserve to let loose and be themselves again. Co-writers and directors Jon Lucas and Scott Moore made a comedy about women feeling free to do whatever they please, even as moms.

When three are overworked and under-appreciated. moms are pushed beyond their limits. They ditch their conventional responsibilities for a jolt of long-overdue freedom, fun, and comedic self-indulgence.

Animal House (1978)

When Animal House came out, John Belushi was a hit and brought so much to SNL. At a 1962 college, Dean Vernon Wormer is determined to expel the entire Delta Tau Chi Fraternity, but those troublemakers have other plans for him.

If you’re a fan of the 70s SNL humor, then this college frat comedy will lift your spirits because of Belushi’s charming presence.

Project X (2012)

It seems like the 2010s were dedicated to millennials who were growing up and having parties throughout the year. Because of the success of Superbad and The Hangover, the movies centered around partying with your best buds seemed to be a hit at the box office.

Three high-school seniors throw a birthday party to make a name for themselves. As the night progresses, things spiral out of control as the word of the party spreads. Oh, and this is loosely based on a true story. Footage of the party went viral before TikTok existed, and YouTube had full control of things spreading.

Wedding Crashers (2005)

John and Jeremy are a pair of committed womanizers who sneak into weddings to take advantage of the romantic tinge in the air. They find themselves at odds with one another when John meets and falls for Claire Cleary.

The cast that came together for this movie was so perfect, and it is one comedy that has become a classic with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson.

21 & Over (2013)

What was different about 21 & Over is that these characters were incredibly smart and never strayed from being good students. So before the big medical school interview and his 21st birthday, Jeff Chang (Justin Chon) plans for a night they will never forget with his two best friends.

This shows that overworking can also make you forget that there are other important things in life.

Girls Trip (2017)

The majority of the films on this list have young men partying and finding themselves, but what about women who still want to have fun? Four lifelong friends travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival.

They rekindle their sisterhood, their wild sides are rediscovered, and there are enough crazy things to happen to them to make this a fun road trip comedy for everyone.
