The season finale of Drops of God, titled “All or Nothing,” brings a fitting conclusion to this wine saga, rounding off Issei (Tomohisa Yamashita) and Camille’s (Fleur Geffrier) story in a rewarding fashion.

The two rivals complete their final test, revealing the fate of Alexandre’s (Stanley Weber) inheritance and his future legacy.

Drops of God Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

Camille concocts her wine for the final test. She’s got a spring in her step after sleeping with Thomas the night before. Unfortunately, what she’s created tastes terrible, and they only have one more hour to go.

Camille runs outside and collapses in the vineyard as a panic attack takes hold of her. She feels the soil around her and slowly reclaims her composure.

After handing in their wine samples, Issei offers to cook a meal as a thank you to his hosts and his competitor. Issei finds a stream and catches fish with his bare hands for this dinner. Issei and Thomas watch in complete shock.

Thomas reveals that he has broken up with Juliette. Camille is beside herself. The couple can now finally be together in an official capacity. They kiss each other.

Back at the vineyard, Philippe tastes the mysterious wine that Issei and Camille had to recreate. He laughs after realizing Alexandre’s cruel task. This particular wine contains 13 grape varieties, all of different consistencies. Philippe is impressed by both wine samples he tastes through and scores in secret.

Does Issei tell Camille the truth about his father?

The gang enjoy a lovely outdoor meal together that night. Philippe reveals that Issei’s parents came to his vineyard 30 years ago. A fact that neither Issei nor Camille knew about: he hands out photographs, and the two competitors look at their parents’ faces in awe. Issei reveals there and then that Alexandre is his biological father. Camille cannot believe what she is hearing.

Camille and Issei talk in private later that night. They discuss Alexandre. Camille thinks her father knew all along and planned this competition to bring them closer together and help them find the truth.

The next day, Yurika greets Issei back in Tokyo. She tells him that she has found Hirokazu. Issei doesn’t want to speak to him, though, calling him a liar.

Who wins the competition?

The competitors meet with Alexandre’s lawyer for the results. They end up tied at 150 points apiece; there are no winners or loses. Camille celebrates, hugging Issei, but there is more. Alexandre had prepared for this eventuality. The lawyer plays a recording of Alexandre in hospital. Alexandre congratulates them both on being so talented, but he has one final test; he needs a winner. They will not be able to split the fortune.

Alexandre wants them to find the specific wine that he calls Drops of God. Camille storms off angrily, stating that she quits, she’s had enough. Issei informs her that if they quit, Luca will gain the entirety of the inheritance. Accepting they cannot quit, they head to Alexandre’s cellar to sample a few bottles together.

What are the Drops of God?

After a drunken night in the wine cellar, they hand in their answers the next day. Issei guesses incorrectly, yet Camille is victorious. She went with ‘the rain’ after remembering an old memory of walking through the vineyard with her father during a storm. Alexandre said the Drops of God were the rain, which help to grow the grapes that make the wine.

Camille wants to split the fortune with Issei. She ponders taking them to court, but that would mean Issei going public about his family’s darkest secret.

In the end, Issei calls his mother to tell her his final decision. He won’t be going public, as he doesn’t consider Alexandre to be his father, but rather Hirokazu.

Issei then visits Hirokazu at the construction site, the one Yurika found him at. Issei hugs his father. No words are exchanged. The gesture says it all. Issei accepts his father and forgives him for the lies. He now understands why Hirokazu did what he did.

Drops of God Season 1 Ending Explained

As the season comes to an end, Camille slowly sells off her father’s wine collection. She makes Lorenzo and Miyabi the editors of the Leger Guide. And is last seen running in the rain with her new boyfriend, Thomas. She looks happy and content with her choices. It’s a truly happy ending for Camille, who has turned her life around thanks to this competition.

Issei and Yurika are also seen together. They return to their home to find a long line of delivery vans waiting for them. Camille has sent a large selection of Alexandre’s wines to Issei.

The note that comes with this momentous delivery says ‘brother and sister’ on it. It’s another heartwarming gesture that brings this series to a satisfying end. Issei didn’t win the fortune, but Camille has given him a large portion of the inheritance after all.
