Here is our recap of the Netflix series Manifest Season 4 Episode 19, “Formation,” which contains spoilers.

“Formation” is the most character-driven episode of season 4. It slows the pace and gives the characters a chance to breathe and contemplate their journey since boarding flight 828.

It’s the last day before the Death Day, and emotions are running high for all the 828-ers. Ben (Josh Dallas), Mick (Melissa Roxburgh), and the rest of their group find hope in Noah’s ark, while Angelina’s (Holly Taylor) marriage ends after Eagan (Ali Lopez-Sohaili) makes a surprising choice.

Manifest Season 4 Episode 19 Recap

The penultimate episode starts with a flashback to Ben and Michaela as children in the woods on a camping trip with their beloved mother.

Saanvi is disappointed to learn that the newly awake passengers don’t remember anything from being stuck in a five-and-a-half-year Calling. The security cameras did, however, catch Marko saying the word “coffin” in Bulgarian, not very reassuring.

Cal tries reasoning with Angelina. Again.

After a heart-to-heart with Olive, Cal finally tells Ben about his peacock Calling from two episodes ago. He’s less than happy with the idea of reaching out to Angelina, but it seems that the two of them working together is the only way to save the world.

At the former Stone house, now Angelina’s cult home Adrian is amused and horrified to hear about the chosen one’s beliefs. As Adrian questions, if Angelina even has any special powers, Cal takes her for a chat inside the plane.

Cal tries selling the idea of redemption to Angelina, but she’s not interested in stopping the Death Day. All she wants is to see the world burn.

What symbols lead the group to the driftwood?

While Cal’s feeling sorry for himself and Mick’s trying to reassure him, Olive brings him the dragon toy Henry gifted him in the previous episode. They all notice that the three original symbols used to predict the Death Day, the dragon, the peacock, and the Gemini, have re-emerged.

Unfortunately, Saanvi doesn’t think the symbols reappearing mean salvation. However, the Bulgarian word” kovchek” doesn’t just mean coffin; it also means ark. There may still be a way to save the world with the fragment of Noah’s ark Saanvi threw inside the lava pit at Storm King Mountain back in season 3.

When the group gets to the mountain, ready to dig out the driftwood, they notice the fissure in the Earth is the same shape as Cal’s scar. As the group prepares to set camp, Ben convinces Vance to go and spend some time with his family.

Eagan makes a surprising choice

At Angelina’s cult home, Adrian is trying to reach Eagan’s good side. We learn that Eagan also knows where the driftwood is, and he’s about to tell his beloved wife in hopes of saving his own skin.

But in the season’s biggest surprise, Eagan chooses not to tell his wife about the ark. Instead, he leaves her and says he’s choosing to try and help save the world.

Where is the group spending Death Day eve?

It’s the eve of the Death Day, and the group is enjoying what’s probably their last night together camping at Storm King Mountain next to the fissure. They even have a campfire going.

It’s emotional to watch these characters spend some quality time at the end of their long journey. Ben and Mick find the tree where they carved their name when they were kids.

After the group shares a touching goodnight, Michaela needs to say a personal goodbye. She’s breaking up with Jared because she wants him to be happy with Drea and their baby.

Ben shares a touching moment with Saanvi, and the two of them decide to stay friends and not take their one-night stand any further.

Manifest Season 4 Episode 19 Ending Explained

While everyone’s asleep, Cal leaves his tent, and Ben follows him out. Cal says he needs to go because he knows what he needs to do to tip the scales. The two embrace and say goodbye to each other before Cal disappears inside the luminous sapphire coming out from inside the fissure.

The episode ends with the reveal that all the passengers can see the light, including Angelina.
