This article discusses the ending of the Netflix film Extraction 2 and will contain spoilers.
The trio of Chris Hemsworth, Joe Russo, and Sam Hargrave have rejoined forces to bring out Extraction 2. The film follows Tyler Rake, sent on a mission to save his ex-sister-in-law and her kids from prison. However, things don’t go as planned, leading to a deadly gangster making Rake fight for his life.
When Extraction came out in 2020, I hoped that Netflix would bring us a no-nonsense action film. Instead, we got a movie that tried to make itself something more without a script capable of doing that. Fast forward to Extraction 2, and Joe Russo’s writing delivers on the promise of what I had hoped from the initial film. With Sam Hargrave’s incredible direction and Chris Hemsworth continuing to prove that he is an action star, Extraction 2 is a far superior film in every way.
In the film, Tyler is forced to come out of retirement to save his ex-wife’s sister and family from a jail that her husband left them in. Things quickly turn awry in the prison when the other inmates realize what Tyler is doing. Finally, they are able to get out of there alive but this ultimately leads to a bigger battle that Tyler will soon have to face.
Extraction 2 Ending Explained
How does Zurab find out where Sandro is?
After being rescued, Sandro’s mother told him about his father’s death. He realizes she lied to him, and on the plane ride, he calls his Uncle Zurab to ask what happened to his dad. Zurab tells him that his mother is a liar and that his father is dead because of her. In return, Sandro tells Zurab where they are heading. A battle ensues, leading to Zurab getting Sandro out of dodge.
How does Tyler save Sandro from Zurab?
Once with his Uncle, Sandro realizes that he isn’t a good person. Of course, Tyler calls Zurab to meet to finish this once and for all. Upon arriving at the building, Tyler realizes that Zurab has a bomb ready to blow up. Zurab forces Sandro to take Tyler’s gun away and tells him he wants him to pull the trigger.
Sandro is unable to pull the trigger, leading to Zurab taking matters into his own hands. Then, Nik arrives causing a battle between Tyler and Zurab. Finally, after a massive struggle back and forth, Tyler gets the upper hand, kills Zurab, and gets Sandro out of the building safely. His ex-wife is able to get them in witness protection.
How can Tyler get out of jail?
While he can get Sandro out safely, Tyler gets caught by the police. However, an unnamed man (Idris Elba) whom he met earlier in the film has him driven out to the middle of nowhere to tell him that he might be able to get him out as long as he does one more job for him. He tells him he won’t do it without his team, and the man says he thought he would say that. We see Nik get out of the car, and the film ends.
