The episode begins with the henchman and his daughter traveling down the interstate but getting pulled over by a cop. We see the cop ask them to get out of the car, but they refuse. Who dies in the season finale of High Desert?

While the cop and Heather are in the midst of fighting it out, a gunshot goes off, and we see the bullet go into the truck and blood splatter. After Heather takes care of the cop, she returns to the car only to see her father, the henchman, Arman, shot in the head and dead in the car.

Carol arrives at Peggy’s house, and she isn’t around. Of course, she is concerned about her disappearance and talks to Denny about it. They start to discuss their next steps in trying to find her. He tries to call everyone on her phone, but nobody has heard from her. His last call is to Peggy’s son, Ethan, who tells him about his father being in jail. Heather returns to Peggy’s house and turns the house upside down because her father is dead.

Nick and his right-hand man Leo kidnapped her and now have Guru Bob and toss him in the truck with Peggy. Nick forces them to start digging their own graves in the sand. He believes that Peggy and Guru Bob had killed Dona.

How did Dona die?

We get a flashback of Guru Bob arguing with Dona over him selling one of the paintings. She calls him out for how much he has changed since the firing from the station. After telling him she was going to leave, he tried to stop her, and Guru Bob grabbed for her bag. They wrestled, and when she pulled away, Dona tumbled down the steps to her death.

Peggy gets out of the predicament like she always does by telling Nick they can get the money needed to pay them off. Leo wants to kill them both right now, but Nick wants to see the situation with Peggy getting her the money.

Who else dies in the season finale of High Desert?

Leo wants to kill either Peggy or Guru Bob. When he goes to shoot one of them, Nick stops them, and the two of them start to fight. Leo gets the best of Nick and heads towards Peggy, and Nick shoots and kills him.

Peggy and Guru Bob get out of dodge and call Bruce and Carol. She tells them to get to the checkpoint ASAP. Peggy calls Dianne and tells her to snag a painting and bring it to her ASAP. Everybody begins to show up in the town, with Dianne getting the artwork in time. Guru Bob shows he has a gun, but Denny walks him over to “Kachel,” and the man posing as Kachel gets the gun from Guru Bob, leading to Guru Bob running away.

High Desert Season 1 Ending Explained

As this happens, Peggy and Dianne talk about the night her mother died. She comes clean about how she was out scoring drugs instead of protecting her mother, and Dianne realizes she lied to her about being clean. All of this leads to Peggy taking part in the human cannonball of Pioneertown (that she promised her boss she would do). The season ends with everyone doing a countdown before it goes off, we see Peggy looking into the sky, and the screen goes black.
