Hijack Season 1 Episode 3 Recap

The plane is now exiting Iraqi airspace. One of the older passengers, Yussuf, a man who worked in the Egyptian military for 30 years, believes that the terrorists are using blanks and that the guns are fake. Hugo wants to investigate this matter further, but Sam is convinced that they are using live rounds.

As they cross into Turkish airspace, the plane is contacted once again. The Captain speaks with the Turkish air traffic controller. They announce that the plane is off course, right in front of Stuart. The Captain course corrects, and thankfully Stuart seems to be unaware of the deception.

How does The Captain signal for help?

Back in London, Zahra decides to take the hijacking higher up, getting the British government involved. Alice explains to them that a pilot will zigzag as a sign of trouble. Alice confirms that the flight has now over-corrected itself and is therefore zigzagging as assumed.

On the flight, Hugo decides to play the hero. He fakes sickness and writes a note for the passengers in business class. He asks them to search for a missing bullet. If they can find one, then this will prove that the shot fired earlier in the flight was real.

A passenger called Nasir worries that his uncle needs his insulin. He asks to grab a bag, but the terrorist says no. Stuart notices these two incidents and orders an end to all toilet breaks; there will be no more movement as the passengers are getting out of control.

The Captain informs Sam of the change in direction. They continue to communicate with one another via the in-flight game, but Stuart catches on.

He hits the pilot over the head for this disobedience. Stuart then punishes Sam, forcing him to follow his silly orders. All of the screens are subsequently switched off.

Hugo thinks that because they didn’t shoot anyone during this argument, that proves the guns are fake. Flight attendant Arthur tells them that they haven’t found a bullet, but a girl did come across one earlier in the flight. Sam asks Yussuf if he can prove that the bullets are blanks.

Who is the only known criminal on the flight?

In London, the Foreign Secretary is summoned, while Zahra requests the flight manifest and searches for any known criminals. There is one criminal on the flight, a man called Jonty Collins. Surprised by these results, Zahra passes the manifest onto Daniel for deeper analysis. Daniel discovers that five passengers technically don’t exist; they can’t be found on any national database. He updates Zahra, who passes this information on to Lydia. They now have their five hijackers.

Meanwhile, on the flight, Stuart puts the Wi-Fi back on and contacts an unknown caller. He informs them that the operation has commenced and the plane is in their control. Then the cabin crew asks to serve food and drink. Stuart only allows them to hand out bottles of water, though.

Are the terrorists using blanks?

This is all a part of Sam’s next plan. While the flight attendants hand out water, a drawing of the two possible bullets is secretly passed down to the girl. She states that the bullet she found matches drawing B, confirming that the terrorists are using blanks.

Sam is eager to make another move now he knows that the bullets are blanks. He asks Hugo for his help in taking down the first terrorist. Hugo is now too nervous to act, though. Nasir decides to fight back as well; he grabs his uncle’s medicine and fights the terrorist nearest him.

Hijack Season 1 Episode 3 Ending Explained

While this altercation takes place, Sam seizes his opportunity and stealthily makes his way to the back of the plane, where he hopes to disarm the terrorist known as Marcus. He passes panicked passengers but easily makes it to the rear of the plane.

Stuart witnesses the chaos and makes his own move. He takes live ammunition out of a bag and switches the blank bullets for real ones in his gun. The terrorists may be using blanks, but Stuart is now armed with a deadly weapon.

Sam then attacks Marcus. They fight one another, and the criminal Jonty steps in to help too. Marcus fights back and manages to grab his gun, causing Jonty to flee. Sam speaks to Marcus, aware that the gun contains blanks. He pressures him to pull the trigger.

The episode ends with an exterior shot of the plane, and we then hear a gunshot. It is unclear whether Marcus fired a blank or if Stuart used his live ammunition on the passengers.
