Summary

See You In My 19th Life raises some big new questions as it continues to explore its premise in interesting ways.

This recap of the 2023 Netflix K-Drama See You in My 19th Life Season 1 Episode 7 contains spoilers.

Apparently suffering in the ratings, especially when going head-to-head with King the Land, See You in My 19th Life remains a surprisingly layered and enjoyable romance with a fun hook and pleasant characters.

Sure, it might be light on real answers, instead really savoring the build-up and anticipation and its larger plot reveals, but I wouldn’t say that has especially been to the show’s detriment thus far.

See You in My 19th Life Season 1 Episode 7 Recap

The episode commences with Ji-eum reflecting on her past lives and acknowledging the transformative journey she has undergone. She remains mindful of the hardships she has faced, as they have shaped her into the person she is today.

What does Mr. Bang tell Seo-ha?

This is, of course, in keeping with the show’s underlying themes and its consistent development of Ji-eum, making more thoughtful use of a fantastical premise.

Meanwhile, Jin-ho, Seo-ha’s father, instructs one of his employees to eliminate Mr. Bang. However, Mr. Bang is granted a reprieve and advised to leave the country and assume a new identity. Mr. Bang has retained evidence of the orchestration of the hit-and-run, which he plans to exchange with Seo-ha.

When he reveals to Seo-ha that the perpetrator was someone within the MI Group who Seo-ha was close to, he jumps in the pool fully clothed after excusing himself from a meal with his father and aunt.

How are the couples getting along?

On the romance side of things, Do-yun’s hazy drunken memories reveal that he attempted to kiss Cho-won but didn’t quite manage to pull it off.

Things fare better for Cho-won, at least, in her relationship with Ji-eum, who introduces her to Ae-kyung and explains their relationship. But when Cho-won, again slightly bevvied up, calls Do-yun for a ride home, he arrives to escort her, but she insists on walking alone and ends up spraining an ankle.

Ji-eum and Seo-ha finally get their moment, though, including a passionate kiss and a finally mutual sharing of romantic feelings. Dong-U constantly hitting Seo-ha up for money is a less-than-ideal spanner in the works of their burgeoning relationship, but Ji-eum cautions her brother to never contact Seo-ha again.

What is Min-gi’s secret?

There’s a big revelation in this episode, which in turn teases another potentially major development down the line.

As it turns out, Min-gi, whom Ji-eum confronts, can also remember his past lives. Using his shaman bell, Ji-eum can narrow down memories of her first life, which seems to have ended when a man in traditional attire carrying the shaman bells skewered her with a sword.

Min-gi isn’t the only one with this gift (or curse?) either. Ji-eum subsequently discovers that the girl she had glimpsed on the road a few days prior is the reincarnation of Seo-ha’s mother, and she can also recall her past lives.

See You in My 19th Life Season 1 Episode 7 Ending Explained

The episode ends with Seo-ha walking into potential danger as he agrees to meet Mr. Bang and warns Ji-eum, who is trailing him surreptitiously, not to follow.

But the more tantalizing suggestion relates to Ji-eum’s memory of her first life. It seems very much like Seo-ha might have been the shaman who killed her, and a sudden vision makes the implication clear.

That’ll certainly throw a spanner in the works of a flourishing relationship.
