Netflix animated series Sonic Prime Season 2 Review
3.5

Summary

Sonic Prime is here to stay with another impressive season.

Here is our review of the Netflix animated series Sonic Prime Season 2, which does not contain spoilers.

I’m a huge fan of Netflix bringing high-quality family-orientated series to its platform that centers around specific IPs.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous was a fine example of Netflix commissioning the right market. Streaming services do not only require the next Game of Thrones to create leverage with audiences. Even Transformers has had a brilliant run on the platform.

We need variety. Good variety. Netflix bringing a decent Sonic series is a brilliant example of a company not too invested in its ego.

Sonic Prime Season 2 was well anticipated, and rightly so.

Sonic Prime Season 2 Review and Plot Summary

Continuing where it was left in Season 1, Season 2 sees Sonic the Hedgehog voyaging across various realities after encountering a rather grumpy Shadow. Green Hill is no more; it’s a ghost reality where Sonic’s best friends are mere illusions, repeating the same lines.

The key to the plot is Nine (who is nestled amongst the Eggforcers) and the Shards that make up the Paradox Prism. Sonic has his work cut out in Season 2 to restore what he has inadvertently broken.

Sonic Prime loves to embrace the video game. While it’s fleshed out with CGI and animation, which you’d expect, its respect for the Universe is evident. This series clearly loves the game’s mechanics and wants to ensure it’s adapted.

Is Sonic Prime Season 2 good or bad?

There are many adventures in Season 2, packed into eight episodes (so far). Whether or not Netflix will bring out a secret ninth episode remains to be seen, but the second season does leave audiences on an exhilarating cliffhanger.

Is Sonic Prime Season 2 worth watching?

Sonic Prime joins the same impressive ranks as Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and Transformers. In fact, I reckon this series can easily surpass way more seasons.

This series is fun and for all ages. Finding a balance that children and nostalgic-induced adults can enjoy, season 2 proved there’s a future for this series.
