King the Land Season 1 Episode 13 Recap

What happens with Sa-rang in the Dream Team?

As a flustered Sa-rang is sent to work on the second floor following her plate-dropping error, Gu Won excuses himself from his formal meal, disinterested in talk of him marrying Yu-ri because he’s already told his father he’s in love with someone else. Following that, the rich heir seeks out his partner, assuring her there will be no wedding, only to be told the two will “talk later.”

Once finished serving Ji-hu (Hwa-ran’s son), a youngster who feigns maturity in front of Chairman Gu, Sa-rang completes her work with the Dream Team, receiving her pay packet along with a message that reminds her she doesn’t deserve it. Elsewhere, Gu Won is told by his father to end whatever relationship he is in, with the rich heir warned he won’t be able to “protect” his partner.

While Pyeong-hwa confronts her senior over needless in-flight sales tactics, no longer wanting to be seen as a pushover, Gu Won is interrupted at King the Land by Yu-ri. Here, the rich heir properly rejects his arranged partner, despite her insistence she could help him ultimately claim King Group as his own.

That night, Gu Won and Sa-rang properly make up, though the latter is in a contemplative mood. After all, she doesn’t believe the Dream Team should be the peak a concierge should aspire to. Concurrently, Da-eul finally confronts her sleazy husband, discovering he goes golfing with severance pay from a job he quit nearly a year ago.

How does Gu Won become hotel president?

The next day, Gu Won and Hwa-ran present their proposals to Chairman Gu. The former absolutely blows his sister out of the water here, showing that he has made inroads for King Hotel to become a worldwide chain, with various agreements already signed in countries across the globe. Thus, Gu Won is appointed president of King Hotel going forward.

How is Ji-hu treated?

As a furious Hwa-ran insists she won’t “give up on the hotel,” Sa-rang is selected to take care of Ji-hu while he is in Korea. This naturally leads to some fun moments between the two, with the youngster now having a positive adult figure in his life. Additionally, it allows for Gu Won to see his partner too.

Later, Hwa-ran angrily sends Ji-hu to his room, not wanting her son to stick around in Korea, before she challenges Gu Won. This time though, it’s the rich heir who gets the upper hand, as he clearly gets under the skin of his sister when bringing up her child.

Granting Ji-hu’s wish, Gu won takes his nephew out for a fun picnic with Sa-rang. There, the youngster is encouraged to become a “brave person” too, one unafraid to show his honest emotions. Taking this on board, Ji-hu expresses his desire to remain in Korea.
